Job Title: MYSQL Database Administrator (DBA)

Duration: 6+ Months Contract

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our IT team. The MySQL DBA will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical MySQL databases. The successful candidate will ensure the availability, performance, and security of our database systems to support business operations and applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Database Administration:Install, configure, and upgrade MySQL databases and related software.Monitor and maintain the health and performance of MySQL databases, ensuring high availability and reliability.Performance Tuning and Optimization:

Analyze and optimize database performance using tools like MySQL Workbench, Performance Schema, and other monitoring tools.Implement performance tuning measures, including query optimization, index maintenance, and configuration adjustments.Security and Compliance:

Implement and enforce database security policies and procedures.Manage user access and permissions to ensure data security and compliance with industry regulations.Backup and Recovery:

Develop, implement, and test backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.Perform regular database backups and restorations as needed.Database Design and Development:

Assist in the design and development of database structures, schemas, and objects (tables, views, indexes, stored procedures, triggers).Collaborate with development teams to optimize database designs and queries.Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain detailed documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.Generate and distribute regular reports on database performance, capacity planning, and other key metrics.Support and Troubleshooting:

Provide support for production systems and resolve database-related issues promptly.Troubleshoot database problems and provide solutions to ensure database availability and reliability.Project Management and Collaboration:

Work closely with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders to deliver database-related projects on time.Participate in cross-functional team meetings and provide technical expertise on database matters.Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Proven experience as a MySQL DBA, with a strong understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, and disaster recovery.Proficiency in SQL and MySQL-specific tools such as MySQL Workbench, Percona Toolkit, and other database management tools.Experience with replication, clustering, and high availability (HA) solutions for MySQL.Knowledge of Linux operating systems and shell scripting.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.Excellent communication and teamwork skills.Relevant certifications (e.g., MySQL Database Administrator, Oracle Certified Professional MySQL 5.6 Database Administrator) are preferred.
