Data Governance LeadLocal to Boston candidates onlyNo Third-Party SubmissionsThe role we are looking to fill requires a leader who is not only strategic but also hands-on in enterprise data cataloging, metadata enrichment, and data governance strategy and planning.This position, requires someone who can create, own, and drive the overall strategy and vision for implementing a data cataloging and governance platform while also being deeply involved in the hands-on aspects of the implementation. They should be experienced in developing project plans, having stakeholder conversations, and implementing/executing product vision. The ideal candidate should have proven experience as a Data Governance leader, along with technical experience in platforms like Informatica, and a strong understanding of data governance processes, workflows, and the development of business glossaries.This is someone who is experienced and willing to be hands-on in Informatica, and who can implement and manage the business glossary, catalogs, etc., within this platform.It's an exciting time to be a part of the Clinical Operations and Business Analytics (COBA) team within the division of Informatics & Analytics. We are at the core of the Institute, using data to drive innovation that is accelerating our mission to defy cancer and improve the lives of our patients, caregivers, and staff. In this role, you will create, own, and drive the overall strategy and vision for implementing a data cataloging and governance platform while also being deeply involved in the hands-on aspects of the implementation.What will you do?Strategy and Vision Development:Create, own, and drive the overall strategy and vision for implementing a data cataloging and governance platform.Develop comprehensive project plans, engage in stakeholder conversations, and implement/execute product vision.Ensure alignment of data governance strategies with organizational goals and objectives.Data Catalog and Governance Implementation:Lead critical workstreams, including planning, executing tasks, and managing timelines and risks.Build and maintain a metadata catalog for analytic assets from data to BI layers.Design and implement a framework for metadata enrichment and glossary content curation in Informatica CDGC.Conduct pilots to determine and optimize processes for efficiency and value.Develop and refine procedures for identifying and addressing data governance issues in collaboration with COBA Vertical teams.Coordinate workgroups to deliver glossary inputs on schedule and within budget.Oversee continuous improvement in data governance strategies and practices.Mentor team members in data governance best practices.Monitor and report on the effectiveness of data governance initiatives.Process development and documentationFormalize and codify the chosen approach with process documentation and instructions to ensure durability, consistency, and repeatability at scale.Document standard procedures to drive SMEs in documenting and curating knowledge assets for the CDGC Glossary in a consistent and accurate manner.Drive and hold accountable all necessary review and validation processes with COBA Vertical teams to ensure completeness and SME approval of glossary content that is collected and curated in CDGC.Report progress and impacts of AAMS implementation efforts to leadership.Stakeholder EngagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are met throughout the implementation process.Facilitate effective communication and collaboration with technical and stakeholder groups.Drive product management and stakeholder engagement interactions, including resolving vendor issues and ensuring smooth communication channelsHands-On Implementation:Be actively involved in the hands-on aspects of implementing and managing the business glossary, catalogs, and other data governance components within the Informatica platform.Ensure a usable platform for analytic stakeholders, including conducting training sessions and maintaining clear communication channels.What knowledge and competencies are required?General QualificationsBachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, Business, Engineering).Master's degree is preferred.Deep technical experience in data cataloging and governance platforms along with strong working knowledge of effective data governance processes and workflows.Expertise with healthcare and related industry clinical and business terminology and definitions.Proven experience in coordinating with multiple technical and stakeholder groups.TechnicalProficient in Enterprise Data Catalog platforms such as Informatica, Collibra, or AlatioSkilled and knowledgeable including best practices in data catalog curation, business glossary development, data lineage, and governance workflows.Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite to prep, manage, maintain, and store templates of glossary input data offline of Informatica CDGC.Experience:Proven experience as a Data Governance leader.Expertise with healthcare and related industry clinical and business terminology and definitions.Experience and comfort coordinating and collaborating with multiple technical and stakeholder groups.Client Services, Collaboration, CommunicationAbility to influence, cultivate, and leverage cross-group, cross-departmental (e.g., I.S.), and external (e.g., vendor) relationships with a big picture view of DFCI benefit skillfully and routinely.MindsetPossesses a high-level of empathy, kindness, and a mindset of inclusive, diverse thinking.
