We are looking for a Designer II for the Kids Create Footwear Product Design Team. The ideal designer is a curious observer, eager participant and a cultural sponge – seeking insights to solve problems. You leverage your outstanding design skills with creative problem solving to create innovative solutions that elevate the experience and key benefits relevant to the athletes and communities we serve. You will create industry-leading product through deeply resonating stories – with the opportunity to work across the sport performance and sport lifestyle footwear landscapes.
The ideal candidate thrives on team collaboration and building functional working relationships to help bring the teams to successful project completion - from concept to reality.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
In the Kids Create Footwear Product Design Team, your day to day job will be working in the Kids segments of Nike sports and lifestyle, from grade school to toddler product. From concepting and ideating all the way to finalizing tech packs , the daily responsibilities of this role are wide ranging, challenging, and rewarding. You'll collaborate with our Design and Category management teams to create innovative product designs that appeal to targeted consumers and advance Nike's design image and product performance. You'll also proactively follow the execution of all product details, including construction, color, form, style, detail, fit, performance and cost/value requirements; produce product concepts and creative strategy to internal and external audiences; and actively develop appropriate designs with regard to cost/value, fit and performance, manufacturability, sustainability, merchandising and aesthetic finish.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
As a Senior Designer, Footwear, you will be working hand in hand with a large project team of different experts (engineers, researchers, scientists, marketing, sustainability, materials, costing, etc), collaborate within the design community (industrial designers, materials, color, graphics, computational, etc.). You will work directly with the Nike FW Industrial Design, Color Design, Graphic Design, Materials Design teams, and Product Management and Development teams, in bringing to life the seasonal creative direction through footwear design and innovation.
This role reports directly to the Kids Create Footwear Product Design Director.

WHAT YOU BRING
Design Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in product design or relevant design degree or combination of relevant education, experience, and training
5-7 yrs experience designing and developing innovative footwear and other products
Passion for Sport and Culture
Previous footwear design experience preferred.
Strong Photoshop, Illustrator skills
Must be able to create accurate 2D technical drawings
Strong sketching, illustration, and rendering skills
Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
Must be able to generate a broad range of concepts and solutions for each project
Cobbling and prototyping skills are a plus
3D knowledge and experience a plus
Experienced with presentation programs: Keynote, Powerpoint, Acrobat, etc.
