Role Overview:

The Cloud Application Engineer is a pivotal role responsible for spearheading the transformation of legacy applications into modern, cloud-native solutions. This role requires a hands-on approach to architecting and implementing serverless and container-based cloud application architectures using GCP PaaS components and services. The Cloud Application Engineer will play a critical role in governing the implementation of transformation solutions, ensuring that they meet the nonfunctional and functional requirements of clients. Additionally, this role involves collaborating closely with technical teams, both onsite and offshore, and serving as the technical interface to clients, ensuring project success and adherence to standards and metrics.

Responsibilities: Define and implement serverless and container-based cloud application architecture using GCP PaaS components and services. Govern the implementation of proposed transformation solutions, test strategy, and deployment strategy. Ensure modernized application meets nonfunctional and functional requirements and metrics as per client expectations. Understand Technical Design from Technical Design/Approach including Application, Middleware, Cloud, Integration, Database Design, etc. Assist enterprises in embracing cloud transformation. The Role Offers:

Participation in the technical steering committee responsible for defining standards, metrics, project governance, and overall project success. Act as the technical interface to the customer. Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Minimum 10+ years of solid experience in Java development and design patterns. 5+ years of solid experience in Cloud PaaS Services, specifically GCP. Experience as a solution architect in green field development projects, having implemented at least 1 complex cloud development/migration project. Strong knowledge of architectural principles, frameworks, design patterns, and industry best practices. Experience in J2EE frameworks such as Spring, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Junit, Mockito, Jenkins, Maven, and JPA. Proficiency in Containers and Serverless technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, API gateway, AWS/Azure functions, AKS, ACI, etc. Hands-on experience with Docker containerization tools and image creation. Good understanding and technical expertise in Microservices architectures. Proficient in deploying and administering components using Application Servers such as Jboss AS, WebLogic, Tomcat Apache, etc. Knowledge of security protocols such as OAuth 2.0, JWT, Spring Security, PING Access/Federate, 2-Way SSL. Experience managing auto build processes using Eclipse, Maven, SVN, etc. Proficiency in databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, with experience in fine-tuning and performance optimization. Familiarity with tools like CheckMarx, SonarQube, AppSpider, JaCoCo. Knowledge of DevOps tools in GCP environment and open-source technologies. Additional preferred skills: Strong backend experience in REST API implementation OR Front-End Development with Angular, React, or Vue. Ability to perform code reviews and develop unit test cases. Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks like TOGAF, Zachman (certifications in TOGAF and Zachman are advantageous). Ability to interact and coordinate with technical teams both onsite and offshore. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and provide effective solutions to production problems. Soft Skills: Decent communication skills, experience working in agile methodology.
