** MATERIAL HANDLER/BAILER ( 7 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)****Job Category****:** Production **Requisition Number****:** MATER03013 Showing 1 location **Job Details****Description**The Material Handler/Bailer will be responsible for maintaining the Dock and Salvage area of the Memphis Goodwill Retail Stores. The Material Handler/Bailer will assist Truck Drivers with the day to day receiving, sorting and pickups. The Material Hander/Bailer will load and operate baler, weigh bales, and record bale weights. Other duties will be assigned by the Transportation and Salvage Manager.JOB DUTIES:1. Assists in loading and unloading the truck, including loading bales from baler for shipment.2. Assists on dock by baling, compacting, sorting donated goods into usable, salvage, or trash when items are on the dock.3. Ability to reads city maps; advises driver of the safest and most effective route to destination.4. Ability to operated and transmit via a 2-way radio.5. Assists in maintaining a neat and organized dock/truck.6. Assist in the loading and unloading of merchandise into the truck.7. Ensures rear doors are shut when truck are in motion.8. Guides the truck driver from behind the truck when driver is backing up the truck.9. Follows safety rules that pertain to the job assigned.10. Adheres to Goodwills guiding principles.11. Other duties as assigned by Dock supervisor.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:1. Ability to lift up to 90 lbs.2. Ability to maintain balance while lifting, loading or unloading3. Operate machinery equipmentWORKING CONDITIONS:Exposure to extreme weather conditionsINTERPERSONAL RELATIONS:Ability to effectively relate to people with various types of disabilities, personalities and cultural backgrounds.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:1. Able to work any day of the week.2. Able to be reached by telephone. Ability to read a city map, and direct the driver to the proper locations by the safest and quickest route possible.3. Able to understand and follow instructions4. Ability to learn and operate baling equipment safely and properly.5. Need to obtain steel-toed shoes per transportation manual within first thirty (30) days of employment.6.
