The anticipated salary range for this role is between $123,000.00 and $180,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
The ESG Data Manager will play a key role in supporting implementation of the corporate sustainability strategy of the Americas Division by working with business partners to identify sustainability/ESG data needs, ensuring data governance protocols are introduced and adhered to, and facilitating ESG metrics and indicators reporting while coordinating across multiple workstreams. This role will also support development of tactical and long-term enterprise-wide solutions for holistic sustainability/ESG data capture and reporting and advancing team initiatives in support of business objectives and mission.
Role Objectives
Work with key stakeholders in the business to identify and meet sustainability/ESG data needs, particularly as sustainability activities and goals evolveEducate stakeholders on, and ensure sustainability and ESG data complies with, internal Data Governance Standards including those related to data integrity, data quality, data architecture and data lineageWork with business partners to ensure global alignment of sustainability/ESG data governance activitiesRepresent the Sustainability Group in Data Governance meetings and committeesSupport procurement of sustainability/ESG data and systems, as requiredFacilitate regular reporting of sustainability/ESG metrics and indicators including to the Sustainability Committee and senior leadership, working with key stakeholders on data quality and presentation materialRegularly review and identify additional sustainability/ESG metrics and indicators as sustainability activities and goals evolveWork with business partners to support the development, testing and implementation of tactical and long-term solutions for sustainability/ESG data collection, management and reporting. This includes work on the initiative to the ESG data platform development and Corporate Citizenship platform as data manager.Develop and conduct training on sustainability/ESG data collection, governance and reporting processes, as requiredQualifications and Skills
5-7 years of comparable or relevant experience, with demonstrated data management or data governance experience.Skilled at working with multiple and complex datasets, particularly datasets relevant to sustainability and/or ESG programsKnowledge of data governance best practice and processesDemonstrated ability to manage key working relationships and facilitate coordination across cross-functional teamsKnowledge/interest in ESG/sustainability strongly preferredAbility to facilitate complex projects across multiple functions and navigate numerous stakeholdersExcellent problem-solving, organizational and time-management skillsAbility to take initiative, anticipate needs, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities while maintaining quality outputExcellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as quantitative and analytical skills with ability to track, organize and summarize data and informationReliable, collaborative team player, able to form positive relationships across organization at all levels.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
