Job overview and responsibilities
United is seeking a primary developer for our passenger simulation application in Chicago, IL. Working closely with our business teams, this role will brainstorm ideas to test new Revenue Management strategies using the passenger simulator. We are interested in someone who knows or is willing to learn concepts of Airline Revenue Management, including passenger forecasting, modeling, and optimization. A key competency is using this knowledge to update the codebase of the passenger simulation application.
Collaborate closely with subject matter experts and business partners to understand and implement complex algorithms and run Revenue Management simulations
Strong quantitative reasoning abilities
Strong capability to translate mathematical concepts into code
Highly motivated developers who can work independently to develop the application
Strong problem-solving skills to address complex workflows
Effective communicator, eager to ask questions and learn new things
Willing to innovate, challenge existing methods and identify improvements
Knowledgeable about new technologies (Ex: Gen-Ai, Machine Leaning, Natural Language Processing)

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)
A minimum of 5 years of experience in object-oriented design, software application design, development, installation, and modification.
Experienced in C++; proficient with Python and/or Julia
Knowledge of data structures, algorithm development, working knowledge within the application and databases
Experience with validation of simulation performance - quality and time; and large-scale system modelling and handling
Strong mathematical skills including probability and statistics, simulation, random numbers, distribution, experiment design, and optimization (preferred)
Experienced and hands on understanding of System Design Principals
Strong understanding of source code control tools (Gitlab) and branching model
Nice to have experience with AWS including AI based recommendation models
Must have legal authorization to work in the United States for any employer without requiring sponsorship
