Position Summary
PACCAR's Global Electronics department, which supports the Peterbilt, Kenworth, and DAF truck brands, has an opening for a Technical Project Manager - Embedded Systems. Reporting to the Supervisor, Project Management Team, this position will lead vehicle function development through the V-Cycle Development Process from requirements definition through system validation for their assigned projects. This position supports a global vehicle platform and will need to coordinate and align global requirements, hardware and software development, electrical development, and testing. This position will be working cohesively with North American teams and European teams to deliver our next-level Dashboard/Infotainment display that will host and monitor Engine Info, BEV info, OBD Info and information from other controllers. This position will also lead VECU development activities to support next generation of vehicle architecture for BEV, FCEV, and ICE platforms.
The successful candidate will have technical knowledge gained through Requirement development, SW development and SW testing. The candidate should also possess project management experience gained from participating in and coordinating development across multiple engineering teams through the utilization of appropriate product development methods leading to high-quality product launches.
Job Functions/ResponsibilitiesLead product development through initial design concepts, project budget and schedule development, risk identification, and mitigation, and support quality product implementations in a matrixed organizationCoordinate technical development of components (both hardware and software) with technical leads within the departmentServe as the liaison between truck division Program Managers and Embedded Engineering teams to understand program risks, development activities, and technical issuesEnsure intellectual property coverage for new Embedded Engineering technical ideasLead technical review meetings related to assigned projectsCoordinate functional safety reviews and track completion of safety conceptsBuild and present product development updates to senior leadershipLead continuous improvement for software design and validation processesSupport ASPICE process integration throughout PACCARAdhere to PACCAR global corporate standards for embedded system development and validationDevelop, manage, and improve Embedded Engineering department procedures and work with the organization to implement enhancementsSupport department staff with training on procedures and processes related to embedded systemsSkills & Qualifications
Required
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent degree5+ years of experience in Automotive field under one or more of following domain
Experience in electrical systems, embedded components, or software systemsExperience leading cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.Experience in the full lifecycle process for software development using established project management methodologies (e.g. Waterfall, Agile, Iterative)Experience in component product development lifecycle and new product implementation.
Excellent communication skills, time management skills and flexible with assigned tasks.Experience using project management tools (e.g. MS Project, Azure DevOps, Jira)Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical team members and stakeholdersAble to work in a team environment and prioritize tasks appropriatelyAbility to travel domestically and internationally for up to 2 weeks at a time, no more than 10% yearly
