As a trusted customer advocate, the Sr. Solutions Architect (SA) for Data Lake & Analytics will influence data strategies for our largest global life sciences customers in a complex and multi-faceted environment. You will interface with both senior executive leaders and cloud architects on a daily basis to build relationships and enable them as cloud advocates. You will help the customer design advanced cloud-based solutions, implement cutting-edge technologies, adopt cloud best practice designs, and migrate existing enterprise workloads to the cloud. You will partner with various AWS teams to craft highly scalable, flexible and resilient cloud architectures that maximize value and insights from diverse data assets.

This role will connect technologies to measurable business value and think strategically about business challenges and articulate technical solutions to solve those problems. As part of the broader SA community you will capture and share best practices with your peers, generate internal and external technical content, and participate in hiring activities to grow the community.

Responsibilities include:

Expertise - Collaborate with AWS field sales, pre-sales, training and support teams to help partners and customers learn and use AWS services such as Amazon DataZone, AWS LakeFormation, Amazon Athena, AWS Glue, AWS Lambda, Amazon S3, Amazon DynamoDB, NoSQL, Relational Database Service (RDS), Amazon EMR and Amazon Redshift.

Solutions - Deliver on-site technical engagements with partners and customers. This includes participating in pre-sales on-site visits, understanding customer requirements, creating packaged Data & Analytics service offerings.

Delivery - Engagements include short on-site projects proving the use of AWS services to support new distributed computing solutions that often span private cloud and public cloud services. Engagements will include migration of existing applications and development of new applications using AWS cloud services.

Insights - Work with AWS engineering and support teams to convey partner and customer needs and feedback as input to technology roadmaps. Share real world implementations and recommend new capabilities that would simplify adoption and drive greater value from use of AWS cloud services.

Innovate - Engaging with the customer’s business and technology stakeholders to create a compelling vision of a data-driven enterprise in their environment

This role will include up to 25% to 40% travel.

Basic Qualifications

8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience

3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience

10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience

Knowledge of SAP systems (like SAP Business Suite, S/4HANA, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP HANA, SAP Business Objects, etc.) and their architecture and infrastructure needs

Experience working with end user or developer communities

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
