Summary

The Driver Lead will assist with the daily operations of picking up donated materials, delivering product to the stores and returns to the warehouse, through the operation of company vehicles while supporting other Drivers and Assistant Drivers. Responsibilities include maintaining a safe work environment, providing exceptional customer service, and the timely completion of job duties. The Driver Lead is an approachable leader who demonstrates and models best practices for safety, excellent customer services, and clear and timely communication. The Driver Lead interacts with a diverse community of coworkers and donors while maintaining a professional demeanor, integrity and the positive, mission driven reputation of FJV at all times.

Essential FunctionsAssists in overseeing the work of the Drivers and Driver Assistants by engaging and retaining a high-performing, accountable workforce.Assists with assigning tasks and assignments.Assists in teaching, training, and supporting the work of the Drivers and Driver Assistants through positive motivation and constructive feedback.Communicates and works with warehouse management to ensure proper procedures are in place and are utilized.Transports, unloads, and delivers items safely and securely to prevent damage or loss.Ensures that all donated items meet acceptability requirements.Follows all FJV safety procedures, including the Department of Transportation's (DOT) regulations, safety standards, and policies, and reports any safety concerns immediately.Ensures drivers and helpers are correctly uniformed, including protective equipment such as safety shoes and vests.Ensures all drivers follow route sheets and turn in their daily paperwork on time.Ensures drivers route efficiently to meet delivery schedules, including leaving and returning within the expected timeframe.Maintains records such as Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVR's), Route Sheets, Meal Records, Accident Reports, and work hour logs.Ensures that Drivers load and unload goods correctly by stacking and using bungees, ropes, ties, blankets, etc.Ensures that Drivers treat donations and company property with respect and care.Communicates promptly and clearly with team members to ensure efficient operations.Provide excellent customer service to donors and vendors and maintain clear communication with Dispatch, including calling at designated times to report meals, occupancy, and time frames.Communicates supply and equipment needs to upper management.Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.Be at least 21 years of age with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience; possesses a valid California driver's license; and has no Class 1 or more than two Class 2 violations within the past 36 months.At least 1 year of experience driving a commercial vehicle with air brakesAt least 1 year of leadership experience to include training, performance management, counseling and retaining an engaged and accountable workforceReliable, dependable, and punctual. May be required to flex hours to support all areas of the business.An energetic leader with a strong sense of urgency and who is results-oriented.Strong communication skills with the ability to lead and motivate the team.Able to work in an atmosphere of strict deadlines and handle competing needs.Ability to maintain a professional demeanor at all times.Basic user of MS Office.Knowledge of routing software a plus.Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.Participate in an annual Tuberculosis screening and/or other screenings when necessary.
