IT Senior Network Architect (Hybrid)
This is a hybrid role. The first three months are fulltime in the office.
Our Team
This position is responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance / support of providing technical expertise and architectural solutions related to network technologies. Ensures that IT solutions meet current and proposed Eversource architecture standards. Develops conceptual, preliminary, and detailed cross-functional design solutions and determines the application and technology requirements. Develops the test methodology for the solution and actively participates in test plan development. Determines the non-functional requirements of the solution, including availability and scalability. Assists with all phases of an IT project including design, build, test, and implementation.
Essential Functions:
This network architect will be responsible for
Developing network and related architectures and solutions based on the business requirements emanating from major projects, solution architects working as part of a project architecture team or stated business requirements.
Working across the organization to provide technical leadership and developing strategy for the network infrastructure.
Maintains currency with the latest evolving network technologies including wireless, internet, and cloud.
Assessing new technologies and best practices for adoption.
Driving standardization, efficiency, and automation into all aspects of the Eversource network.
Engaging with internal and external customers and engaging in technology and utility focused forums for briefings, issue escalation, and complex solution development.
Enabling the extended team’s vitality through training, mentoring, and skills transfer.
Documenting network capabilities as appropriate, engaging with solution architects in crafting system designs.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
Applies extensive technical expertise and has full knowledge of other related disciplines.
Expert knowledge of:
Relevant network protocols, topologies and equipment.
PC hardware and software.
IP Telephony and IP Video technologies.
Relevant utility tools and systems platforms.
Experience with design and development of Wide Area Network (WAN), Field Area Network (FAN), and Local Area Network (LAN)
At least 5 years of experience designing network infrastructures, at scale, e.g., MPLS/BGP, routing, switching, SDN/NFV, EVPN, VXLAN
Familiarity with enterprise and carrier wireless standards, Wi-Fi, 3GPP, satellite
At least 2 years of technical writing and speaking skills
Team and business leadership experience
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent work experience and technical training
Experience
:
Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of relevant experience
Preferred technical and professional expertise
:
CCIE/JNCIE or comparable certifications
5 years of experience in developing architectures
Experience with utility networks and SCADA systems, substation 61850 standards
Licenses & Certifications:
None
Working Conditions:
Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.

Compensation and Benefits
