DESCRIPTION The Senior Cisco Wireless Network Engineer is responsible for the design, configuration, deployment, and maintenance of the wireless network critical for facilitating device communication. Responsibilities encompass ensuring access to various systems like EMR, Clinical/Medical equipment, Facility systems, and Business Applications, among others. They analyze logs for troubleshooting and network health assessment, while also maintaining comprehensive documentation of network topologies. Additionally, they support other network systems such as network routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and Cisco ISE. This role provides 24/7 problem management support for wireless networking, security, and related software applications, participating in an on-call rotation. Proficiency in diverse software tools for design, analysis, and implementation is required. Key technical areas include managing Cisco wireless controllers, access points, switches, routers, firewalls, LAN, WAN, DR, and Data Center topology. Duties involve gathering requirements from stakeholders, designing network solutions, researching technologies/methodologies, and documenting specifications. Incident/Problem Management of Network Systems and Technologies is central, including managing multiple incidents and collaborating with third-party service providers during outages. Rapid response to business-critical emergencies, proactive communication with stakeholders, and implementation of performance KPI reporting procedures are crucial. Regular compliance audits, documentation of the current environment for operational/planning purposes, and vendor management are also core responsibilities. This role extends to the operation and maintenance of the campus and medical center communications network, requiring advanced problem-solving skills and adherence to industry standards and organizational objectives. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Nine (9) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus five (5) years of related experience/training. Professional experience, and proven success, managing communication and network systems. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Expert knowledge of all 802.11 (a,b,g,n,ac,ax), 802.1x, EAP, TTLS, Radius, IPSK, and radio frequency communication principals. Expert knowledge with Site Survey tools - Significant field experience working with Cisco wireless solutions such as Catalyst 9800 IOS-XE, 55XX / 85XX AIR-OS Controllers, and Cisco 98XX,38XX series APs. Expert knowledge with Cisco ISE for authentication and Guest Access of a Cisco Wireless Network Experience working with Cisco Wireless management solutions such as DNA Center and Prime Infrastructure. Solid understanding of Cisco wired networks, routers, switches, firewalls and experience working with Catalyst switches such as Catalyst 94XX, 93XX, 3850, 45XX. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $104,900 - $198,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $50.24 - $95.26 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
