The Plex Cloud Operations department takes great pride in being a part of a continuous improvement culture, and as a data services team member, you will meaningfully contribute to operationalization of state-of-the-art , leading-edge software and adoption of open-source technologies. You will run scalable, reliable, and secure applications while helping improve the delivery of our products. You will join a team to ensure that issues are resolved as efficiently as possible, with minimal customer impact.You will report to the Manager, Data Services - Plex.Your Responsibilities:Implement and maintain database server KPI monitoring/alertingChart database utilization over time to identify optimal scaling opportunitiesDatabase bottleneck identification and corrective actionSuggest modifications/optimizations (to Developers) for tuning SQL statements and stored proceduresIn-depth query execution plan expertiseLead regular weekly discussions regarding MySQL and PostgreSQL instances with members of data services teamPerform post-incident customer impact analysis as well as monthly application availability metricsInstall and configure MySQL 5.7 to currentInstall and configure PostgreSQL 12.0 to currentImplement database maintenance routinesParticipate in On-Call rotationsTroubleshoot a variety of database issuesAccess managementMaintain backups and integrity checksParticipate in off hours Maintenance windowsParticipate in multiple projects involving data servicesWork within a global team environment or independently to carry out tasks as neededThe Essentials - You Will Have:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related area or equivalent years of relevant work experienceLegal authorization to work in the US is required- we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, not now or in the future, for this job openingThe Preferred - You Might Also Have:Typically requires 5+ years' experience managing a production system that is highly available and reliable, preferably 24/7Experience managing MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL server in private datacenters as well as in AWS and/or AzureProven history building automated solutions that enable resiliency and self-healing of applicationsOperational experience working with data technologies and managing large volumes of dataExperience troubleshooting performance and tuning queries and stored proceduresStrong SQL skills for writing and reviewing scriptsExperience setting up backup schedules and securing dataExperience building automation scripts for database server builds using terraform or ansibleExperience with Operations technologies: Server Operating Systems (Windows Server, Linux); Virtualization EnvironmentsAdditional experience with any of the following:MongoDBPowerShellTerraformAnsibleOpen-source technologies and cloud services: Azure, AWS, and/or GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, and/or Terraform; Chef, Puppet and/or AnsibleSQL Sentry or any other SQL monitoring tollExternal monitoring services like PRTG and DynatraceHashiCorp Consul;OpsGeniePrometheus and Alert ManagerWhat We Offer:Health Insurance including Medical, Dental and Vision401kPaid Time offParental and Caregiver LeaveFlexible Work Schedule where you will work with your manager to enjoy a work schedule that can be flexible with your personal life.To learn more about our benefits package, please visit at www.raquickfind.com.This position is part of a job family.
