The Database Engineer (DBE) will join a high performing agile team using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology to support a nationally significant program. Program execution follows DEVOPS best practices and employs robust development, test and production environments. The Database Engineer maintains the integrity, security and availability of multiple databases. She/he provides technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis. She/he develops requirements from a project's inception to its conclusion for a particular business and Information Technology (IT) subject matter area (i.e., simple to complex systems). Assist with recommendations for, and analysis and evaluation of systems improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts. Database administrators with experience that includes Netezza, Oracle, SQL, PostgreSQL, RDF
Primary Responsibilities:
Supports data administration technical function for both data warehouse development and maintenanceFacilitates change control, problem management, and communication among data architects, programmers, analysts, and engineersAnalyzes and identifies data and metadata requirementsDefines user requirements and database design specifications.Implements business rules via stored procedures, middlewarePrepares/implements data verification and testing methods.Responsible for developing a database structure that fits into the overall architecture of the system under development and has to make trades among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security and domain controls.Develops relational and/or object-oriented databases, database parser software, and database loading software. Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design.Translates a set of requirements and data into a usable document by creating or recreating ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros; updates existing queries, creates new ones to manipulate data into a master file; and builds complex systems using queries, tables, Open Database Connectivity and database storage and retrieval using Cloud methodologies.Basic Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience developing databases for and interacting with cloud environments.In-depth experience reading and developing solutions to customer requirements.Extensive experience analyzing and identifying data and metadata requirementsExtensive experience defining user requirements and database design specificationsMust have a good understanding of databases, primarily Oracle and/or other relational and non-relational databases that includes Netezza, Oracle, SQL, PostgreSQL and RDF.Candidate must be a US Citizen.
Candidate must have a MA/MS degree with a minimum of 15 years of experience. This may be substituted with a BS/BA degree and a minimum of 20 years of total experience.
