Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

This position supports a variety of operational systems and sub-systems that include UHF/VHF radio systems, DC power plants, remote site communication nodes, remote monitoring, network distribution to include microwave, fiber, and copper distribution. Position requires experience leading individuals and projects to analyze, design, test, implement, maintain, and manage assigned systems. Technical knowledge of assigned systems and ability to research solutions is required to successfully perform assigned duties.Research, plan and design microwave, radio and digital communications systems, remote communication nodes that include towers, solar, generator, and DC power plants.

Experience with microwave communication links, two-way radio communications in HF/UHF/VHF bands, handheld portable radios and other military communications systems, radio remote control systems, MPLS and SONET transport systems, Ethernet and IP data networks, encryption equipment, grounding/lighting protection techniques.

Assist in design, planning, and implementing system upgrades using the latest technologies.

Identify and troubleshoot hardware and software technical problems related to assigned equipment.

Lead installation teams (including vendors), participate in planning meetings and identify tasks, material, tools, and equipment required to complete the effort.

Develop and maintain system level and site documentation/configuration.

Apply a broad and in-depth working knowledge of telecommunications and remote site infrastructure technology that includes DC, solar, and generator sources that promotes reliability and survivability of equipment and services.

Provide engineering support to research, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve installation issues and service problems.

Conduct tests or diagnostics requiring selection and adaptation of a wide variety of test equipment and test procedures; set up and operate equipment; record data, measure and record problems of significant complexity that sometimes require resolution at a higher level; and analyze data and prepare test reports.

Travel overnight to remote locations in order to perform assigned tasks.

Qualifications:Education and Experience : Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field experience and at least six years of applicable communication systems engineering experience or a combination of training and experience.

Experience with communications remote site infrastructure that includes electrical distributionKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this Position:

Knowledge of current hardware engineering practices and standards; microprocessors; digital recording systems, HF, VHF, UHF transceivers, low/high power transmitters and supporting antenna systems.

Should have experience working with SNMP and management tools used to collect, diagnose, correlate, and report information from SNMP devices or vendor software.

Comprehends data distribution systems and network equipment functionality

Knowledge of Internet Protocol addressing and network interface principals.

Network and telecommunications principles and equipment, antennas, frequency management, grounding principles and power.

Strong leadership and planning skills in leading installation teams. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate technical issues in an assertive and tactful manner.

Must demonstrate responsibility and discipline to ensure equipment and systems are maintained or repaired when inspections reveal out of tolerance conditions.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance.

Work Environment, Physical and Mental Demands:

Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor duties may be performed on ladders, roofs, towers, and platforms. Traveling to Range locations which involves exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions for prolonged periods;
