Responsibilities:

The Data Architect will support Barrow Wise's CPS project and perform the following duties:

Enable the management and sharing of infectious disease data between Chicago Public Schools and the Health DepartmentImprovement of data quality (business processes, governance, systems/applications, etc.)Efficiency of public health response to disease outbreaks for Chicago Public School studentsDefine and implement the long-term technology strategy and innovations roadmaps across analytics, data engineering, and data platformsCreate standards, design patterns, and best practices for ETL development in an enterprise data warehouse environmentOversee the expansion of existing data architecture and data query performance optimization.Assist with identifying future state architecture (data fabric, active metadata, Data Lake, Data Lakehouse)Perform current state data model assessments/target data models and gap analysisPropose new database architecture and support data migration from an existing Legacy system to a new structureCreate source-to-target mapping documents to transform the source data into the target warehouse and test final transformationsMaintain and create extensions to ODSAssist in designing the data warehouse and ensure that data is stored and maintained in consistent formatsCounsel Analysts and Subject Matter Experts on specific topics to accurately capture existing business rules/principlesEstablish data modeling naming standards, abbreviations, guidelines, and best practicesDevelop and maintain conceptual, physical, and logical data modelsDrive best practice solutions for data in a collaborative environmentProvide insight and strategies for data architecture solutionsCoordinate with a Solutions Architect to find the best data solution and workflows to support projectsLead architectural design and strategy discussionsUtilize various ETL tools, including MS SSIS and Ab InitioPerform ETL transformations between data stored in MS SQL Server Management Studio, Azure SQL Database, Oracle databases, and ServiceNowUtilize scripting languages, Bash, PowerShell, Google Script, C#, and PythonPerform AppWorx workload automationPerform data profiling and data modeling of both dimensional and non-dimensional data in 3NFWork remotelyAn ideal candidate has the following:

U.S. CitizenshipA Master's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, data science, engineering, or related field, required 8 years of technology delivery experience with at least 7 years focus on database system architecture and design, including the following is required:

Experience producing high-quality Solution architecture and design documentsExperience leading projects involving data warehousing, data modeling, and data analysisHands-on experience in performance tuning techniquesExperience with API and web service implementation (REST, API, SOAP API)Experience with Cloud data warehouse technologies (Azure Data Warehouse, Amazon Redshift, Snowflake)Experience with business intelligence tools and technologies such as ETL, Power BI, and Tableau

Ability to socialize and communicate the technical architecture and design to business and developersExpertise in BI and data warehousing principles, including data modeling, data qualityExtract/transform/load processes as they apply to data preparation for BI/ Analytic solutionsExpert level knowledge of T-SQL, Stored Procedures, Data Modeling, Views, and FunctionsAbility to resolve performance issuesAbility to collaborate and excel in complex, cross-functional teams involving data scientists, business analysts, and stakeholdersFamiliarity with the latest trends in data engineering and data management (APIs, data virtualization,stream data integration, augmented data integration)Familiarity with SQL Server database administrationFamiliarity with modern ETL integration solutions (SSIS, Ab Initio, Datastage, Informatica, Azure DataFactory)Familiarity with K-12 Education is preferred
