Manager of Configuration and Product Data Management

In this role you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the configuration management (CM) and product data management (DM) activities within the organization. This role ensures that all products, systems, and projects adhere to company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements pertaining to CM and DM.

The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams to manage the integrity of product information, configuration baselines, and data throughout the product lifecycle, with a particular focus on Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) workflows and administration, as well as the management of subscriptions to Industry Specifications and Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy :Develop and implement the CM and DM strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.Lead and mentor a team of configuration and product data management professionals.Establish CM, DM, PDM, and PLM policies, processes, procedures, and training to ensure consistency, accuracy, and control.Collaborate with other departments (e.g., engineering, quality, manufacturing) to ensure CM, DM, PDM, and PLM practices are integrated across the organization.Configuration Management :Oversee the identification, documentation, and control of product configurations and their associated documentation.Manage the configuration baseline, including the approval and release of configuration items (CIs) and changes.Ensure that configuration audits are conducted regularly to verify the integrity and accuracy of the configuration management system.Maintain records of configuration status accounting, including changes, deviations, and waivers.Support the release and configuration of enterprise Business Management System (BMS) procedures, instructions, forms and other assets.Product Data Management :Oversee the collection, storage, and dissemination of technical data and documentation throughout the product lifecycle.Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.Implement and manage product data governance policies, including data classification, access control, and retention schedules.Coordinate the distribution and archiving of technical documentation to ensure timely and accurate availability to stakeholders.PDM and PLM Business Systems Administration :Lead the administration and continuous improvement of PDM and PLM business systems, ensuring they meet the organization's needs.Develop and manage workflows within PDM and PLM business systems to streamline processes related to product development, change management, and document control.Oversee user access, permissions, and roles within PDM and PLM business systems to maintain data security and integrity.Collaborate with IT and other departments to integrate PDM and PLM business systems with other enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, MES).Monitor and troubleshoot PDM and PLM business systems to ensure optimal performance and address any issues or inefficiencies.Provide training and support to users of PDM and PLM business systems to enhance user adoption and system utilization.Management of Industry Specifications and Standards :Manage and maintain subscriptions to relevant Industry Specifications and Standards, ensuring they are up-to-date and accessible to the organization.Monitor updates and changes to industry standards and specifications, and communicate these to relevant stakeholders.Coordinate with Procurement to ensure timely renewal of subscriptions and access to the latest industry documentation.Integrate new and updated standards into the organization's CM, DM, PDM, and PLM processes to ensure compliance and alignment with industry best practices.Process Improvement :Continuously assess and improve CM, DM, PDM, and PLM processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.Lead initiatives to implement new tools and technologies that support configuration and product data management activities.Monitor industry trends and best practices to ensure the organization's CM, DM, PDM, and PLM processes remain current and competitive.Compliance and Reporting :Ensure compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and customer requirements related to configuration and product data management.Prepare and present regular reports on CM, DM, PDM, PLM, and subscription management activities, metrics, and performance to senior management.Participate in internal and external audits related to CM, DM, PDM, PLM, and standards compliance.Location

This position can be based at either of two BlueHalo offices: Huntsville AL or Albuquerque NMWe would consider other BlueHalo office locations; however, this role is NOT remoteQualifications:

Education :Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.Experience :7+ years of experience in configuration management, data management, PDM, PLM, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.Experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, defense, automotive) is highly desirable.Proven track record of successfully managing CM, DM, PDM, and PLM activities across multiple projects and sites.Skills and Competencies :Strong knowledge of configuration management principles, standards (e.g., ISO 10007, EIA-649, ISO 9001, AS9100), and best practices.Proficiency in product data management practices, including data governance, data security, and data lifecycle management.In-depth understanding of PDM and PLM concepts, systems, and tools.Experience with the management of industry standards and subscriptions.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.Proficiency with CM, DM, PDM, and PLM tools and software (e.g., PLM systems, version control systems).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
