1. Assists with patient assessment and care provision under the direction of the Registered Nursea. Measures/records patient information (hgt, wgt, v/s)b. Specimen Management - Obtains, prepares and preserves a specimen for a laboratory testc. Bedside Laboratory Testing - Performs laboratory test at the bedside or point of cared. Observes/reports or records patient response to care givene. Identifies and reports deviation in v/s or patient observations & patient needs to RN

2. Assists patients in meeting nutritional and elimination needs. Feeding - provides nutritional intake for patient who is unable to feed selfa. Passes, collects and checks food traysb. Assists patients with bedpans/urinals/commodec. Tube Care - Assists with management of a patient with an external device exiting the bodyd. Measures I & Oe. Assists with colostomy care

3. Assists patients with bedrest care, mobility and with personal hygiene and grooming. Transport - moves a patient from one location to anothera. Self-Care Assistance: Transfer - assists a person to change body location; assists with the use of assistive devices as indicatedb. Exercise Therapy: Ambulation - promotes and assists with walking to maintain or restore autonomic and voluntary body functions during treatment and recovery from illness or injuryc. Assists with dressing and undressingd. Bed rest caree. Assists with colostomy caref. Oral health maintenance - promotes oral health

4. Assists patient with comfort care and emotional support. Patient Rights Protection - Protects health care rights of a patient, especially a minor, incapacitated or incompetent patient unable to make decisions. Protects patient privacy.a. Anxiety Reduction - Minimizes apprehension, dread, foreboding, or uneasiness related to an unidentified source of anticipated dangerb. Visitation Facilitation - Promotes beneficial visits by family and friendsc. Answers call bells promptly reporting patient's need as indicated.d. Provides orientation to room/unite. Assists patients with communications (i.e. nursing call system, phone, etc)f. Provides diversional activitiesg. Provides comfort measures (i.e. back rubs, music, reading material)

5. Assists in promoting patient safety & environmental cleanliness/order. Uses side rails appropriatelya. Environmental Management - Manipulates the patient's surroundings for therapeutic benefit, sensory appeal, and psychological well-beingb. Makes bedsc. Cleans and cares for equipmentd. Carries out transmission based precautionse. Observes oxygen precautionsf. Emergency Care - Provides life-saving measures in life-threatening situationsg. Maintains suicide precautionsh. 6. Unit operations - Utilizes organizational skills to assure smooth functioning of department operations.. Runs errands as required, delivering specimens to the lab, transporting patients, assisting with special procedures, and other tasks as indicateda. Assists RN with the discharge processb. Assists with the orientation of new or transferred employeesc. Prioritizes delegated tasks based on patient care needs and unit activitiesd. Requests assistance with delegated tasks when needed or unsuree. Completes work/assignments within allotted time, reporting unfinished responsibilitiesf. Supply Management - ensures acquisition and maintenance of appropriate items for providing patient careg. Demonstrates appropriate telephone etiquette, relaying messages & carrying out appropriate contacts promptly/conciselyh. Documents equipment repair / maintenance needs

7. Acquires and maintains current knowledge and competency in LNA /HUC practice. Acquires and maintains clinical knowledge and skills appropriate to the assigned area and practice settinga. Maintains personal documentation of in-service attendance
