What's the role?

Design and plan software by applying the principles of engineering to software development. Translate business requirements into digital solutions, including business analysis and application design. Develop future-proof, well-tested and secure applications. Systematically develop processes to provide specific functions. Is aware of the "big picture". Ensure up-to-date knowledge about the latest technologies and trends, bring fresh ideas to the team. May involve coordination on projects. The role requires a university education (master's degree) and more than 5 years of professional experience. This role covers 4 tiers. This job profile represents tier 4 of 4.

Here's what you'll do:

Develop and evolve design patterns and architecture for a large software application that is used to operate our X-Ray microscopes. Plan, design, code, test and debug SW features of a very large scope and complexity.Is able to collaborate with others to understand and capture requirements and identify, analyze and evaluate many complex factors to arrive at a design.Assists and guides others in selecting SW approaches.Develop new SW approaches to complex problems. Requires significant creativity. Provides technical leadership and coordination of very large sized SW development tasks and initiatives.Provides technical leadership and coordination across the entire Software organization.Leads the development, planning, implementation, and documentation of SW technical roadmap and release schedules.Actively participates in the development of BKM's and software development processes for the organization. May have responsibility for direct reports within the SW organization.

Do you qualify?

Minimum of 12 yrs. SW development experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, or 10 yrs. SW development experience with a Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent , or a PhD in Computer Science or equivalent with 8 yrs. experience. Must have 3-5 years experience in at least two of the primary SW development languages we use.(C++ and C#), Python is a plus. Must have at least 5 years experience developing a windows application for an instrument. Has 3-5 years experience as a SW technical lead and architecting an instrument control application.

The annual pay range for this position is $162,000 - $203,000

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.

This position is also eligible for a performance bonus or sales commissions. ZEISS also offers robust benefits, including medical plans, retirement savings plan and paid time off.
