POSITION SUMMARY

Do you have a passion for philanthropy and collegiate athletics? Grinnell College is looking for you! The Associate Director of Development-Athletics will report to the Director of Annual Giving and be an integral part of our team. This role involves cultivating, soliciting and securing gifts at the leadership level and above, for both the athletics department and individual teams. The Associate Director will work closely with Annual Giving staff to develop and execute targeted solicitation strategies for key constituents, including alumni, parents, and families. Additionally, the Associate Director will collaborate with the Director of Athletics and Recreation and team coaches to identify the department’s primary needs and align them with donor priorities.

This position requires between 1/3-2/3 of time spent traveling.

Key Responsibilities:

Personally solicit alumni to renew and increase giving, conducting face-to-face meetings and virtual meetings.

Collaborate with Director prospect management to identify higher engaged athletic supporters

Execute strategies culminating in exceeding annual fundraising goals

Assist with alumni activities

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university

5 years or more experience

Champion Diversity Equity and Inclusion

Strong communication skills in a variety of ways for multiple constituents

Exhibit collaboration and organizational abilities

Familiarity using CRMs, preferably Raisers Edge

Valid Drivers License

Willingness to travel frequently and to work some evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in fundraising, direct sales or marketing

Experience in higher education or nonprofit a plus

Possess a passion for sports and deep understanding of the student-athlete experience
