Job Description

A distinguished University in Los Angeles is looking for a Jr. Technical Business Systems Analyst to join their Academic Systems team. This individual will support student affairs departments, the Career Professional Development (CPD), and enrollment management groups with their academic systems and applications that they regularly use. Their main responsibilities include establishing and maintaining strong business-technology partnerships between ITS and administrative business units, providing technology support to business users regarding academic systems, and supporting those end users with training on how to use new technology. A key focus for this role is gathering business requirements for the twice-annually technology requests regarding academic systems from a variety of the above listed departments. With this responsibility, the candidate will need to use a problem-focused mindset to understand their end-users' desires and gaps that technology could solve, bring those requirements back to the team and research possible applications, tools, and technology, that the university can provide to fill such gaps. If a technology is approved, then they will be the main POC with the 3rd party vendor to project manage and coordinate technology infrastructure efforts, including onboarding new technology and implementation. This role is provided with full support from developers, a database analyst, and another business analyst as well as technological support from the third party vendor or implementation partner. Lastly, they will provide updates on user utilization patterns, and consider improvements to the user experience of University technology. This position is a great fit for someone creative, who thinks outside the box, has a solution minded approach to solving technology gaps and problems, and is eager to get exposure to a career in IT with many different avenues.

Skills and Requirements

-1+ year of professional experience as a Business Analyst or System Administrator supporting an enterprise application or a technology environment

-On a technical level they need to be strong enough with applications that they could reset a password themselves

-BA or Associates degree - ideally in Information Systems or Computer Science or a comparable field.

-Excellent communication and soft skills to translate technical information into comprehensible and understandable business process improvements to non-technical and technical stakeholders.

-Highly creative with the ability to wear multiple hats and think outside the box with an eagerness to grow and learn within IT

-Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and enough -Basic SQL proficiency - ability to pre-screen or pre-troubleshoot an issue before bringing it to a developer

-Higher education experience or alumni of this university or a vision for how technology can support higher education

-UAT testing, sprint planning, and experience writing user stories. null
