Seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide medication management services to adolescent clients in a residential mental health setting. This position would involve meeting with clients on a weekly basis to assess mental status and prescribe medications if appropriate. Medical services would be directed towards clients, ages 11-17, who are currently receiving residential treatment for behavioral health including but not limited to self harm, aggression, suicidal ideation, substance abuse, trauma, mood instability, depression, and anxiety. Candidates would thrive in this position if they have the skills to provide medication management to adolescent clients with severe behavioral health issues, are able to work with a multi-disciplinary team to address clients presenting problems without heavy medical intervention, And are able to assist clients when they are experiencing crises.

Pay Rate: $80/hour

Type: Part-time

Schedule: 1-2 days per week

Job Responsibilities :

Conducts assessment and monitoring of patientsEnsures Universal Precautions of the unitObserve and assess patients for clinical signs and symptoms and follow prescribed courses of treatmentAssists with emergency situations and makes immediate referralsProvides documentation which reflects services for each patient in accordance with licensure standardsMaintains the Confidential nature of all patients and facility activitiesMaintains required Training & Continuing EducationMeets with patients requesting to see the doctor to determine the urgency of their medical needs and expedite treatment as requiredUnder the supervision of the Medical Director, assists in educating patients about psychiatric careFacilitates medication education for new patients and for all other patients starting new medications.Meets with therapists to provide information about patient medical problemsAssists the treatment team in incorporating medical issues into treatment planningParticipate in regular meetings with the Program Director to discuss specific patient problemsParticipate in regular department meetings and staff meetingsEncourage efficient utilization of supplies and equipment to prevent wasteMaintains effective communication between outside medical services and the facilityHas good work habits: get things done in a timely, efficient manner with no excessive absences; is on time for scheduled shifts and prepared to begin workFunctions well as a team member and contribute positively to the morale of staff.Maintains up-to-date training in CPR, First Aid, Crisis Intervention, Infection Control, and other areas mandated by organizational policiesDemonstrates flexibility and adaptability, responding positively to changing situations in the work setting.

Qualifications :

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner ProgramCurrent Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) LicensureA minimum of 1 years experience working with mental health patients in a chemical dependency/psychiatric setting, in a partial hospitalization and/or outpatient setting preferred.Licensed to practice nursing in the appropriate state and maintains current licensure per state requirementsMaintains current CPR certificationMust pass a Level 2 Background CheckMedication education
