Network Technician

responsible for managing small to medium size fleet replacement projects, provisioning and troubleshooting wireless access points, client device connectivity issues, and learning how to manage and monitor wireless systems all while under direct supervision.Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesReceipt and inventory of new wireless access point.

Provision wireless access points.

Coordinate small to medium size fleet replacement projects across the enterprise.

Troubleshoot wireless connectivity issues with computing devices, medical devices and mobile devices.Specific Devices, Software, ProjectsNetwork Technician learn to use Ekahau, NetScout, and Prime for wireless heat maps. They will learn Cisco ISE for wireless authentication. They will become proficient in provisioning and troubleshooting Cisco, Juniper and Arista wireless platforms. Under direct supervision, Network Technician will support the wireless remediation Service Requests and conduct surveys for RF signal coverage.Scale/size of Area, Project and/or System SupportedSupports all JHHS and JHU locations within the MD/DC area.Special Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesMust demonstrate critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills.Ability to work on multiple priorities effectively.Ability to prioritize conflicting demands.Demonstrated track record of the ability to execute assigned project tasks within established schedule.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Ability to communicate effectively in the service of users and colleagues in a positive manner.Writes and communicates clearly and concisely.Possesses sound documentation skills.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Demonstrated track record of exemplary customer service skills.Basic understanding of data communication principles.Basic understanding of the OSI ModelBasic familiarity with network troubleshooting techniques.Basic understanding of network traffic management conceptsBasic understanding of DHCP and DNS servicesDemonstrated understanding of IP AddressingDemonstrated understanding of common operating systems (Windows, Linux, MAC, etc.)Ability to articulate and explain the function of network switching or how layer 2 technology functions.

Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GED.

Two years of related experience.Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.Preferred Qualifications
