Job SummaryUnder general direction of the Employee & Labor Relations, Executive Director utilizes comprehensive and in-depth labor relations expertise to provide guidance and recommendations regarding strategic direction for the organization. Works on labor relations matters that are the most diverse and complex in scope and where analysis of data and situations requires evaluation of many factors and implications with broad impact on the organization. Develops internal and external contacts to support organization-wide plans and objectives. Determines methods and procedures to provide a full range of labor relations services to UC Davis Health, including consultation and support to Hospital management, employees and designated representatives. Analyze and interpret University policies and procedures, applicable labor law and contract administration, provide problem-solving and decision-making assistance, organizational review and analysis and third-party mediation and conflict resolution. Manages the development and recommended changes to labor relations policies and procedures.Apply By Date : October 4, 2024 by 11:59 PM; Screening and selection activity can begin any time.Minimum QualificationsJD in Employment Law or other related legal field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Several years demonstrated work experience in the areas of employee relations, employment law, labor relations, and collective bargaining principles & practices.Experience in labor arbitration, advocacy, practicing law in a trial setting, representing clients at administrative hearings or related field.Thorough knowledge of labor/employment law and the principles and techniques of labor negotiations.Demonstrated supervisory/management skills effective to lead, negotiate and implement training, staff and management development.Demonstrated skills to analyze complex problems or information in an objective manner and derive logical conclusions.Demonstrated technical expertise to interpret and effectively explain complex collective bargaining agreements, policies and procedures.Expository writing skills to produce clear, well organized, concise, publishable analytical reports.Skills to work effectively and sensitively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated past employee and labor relations supervisory/managerial experience in a large, complex healthcare operation.Experience working with Human Resource Information Systems and applications.Demonstrated knowledge and experience with UC Davis personnel policy, procedures, and practices.Key Responsibilities50% - Leadership30% - Leadership Development Program Management20% - Labor Relations Program ManagementDepartment OverviewThis position provides critical management and administrative support to the E&LR department within the division of Human Resources that serves the Medical Center, School of Medicine, and School of Nursing which employs ~20,000 individuals.POSITION INFORMATIONSalary Grade Pay Range: $99,400 - $196,400 annuallyAppointment Type: Staff: CareerPercentage of Time: 100Shift Hours: 8:00 AM-5:00 PMLocation: Sacramento, CA & Rancho Cordova, CABenefits Eligible: Yes, full benefitsPhysical DemandsStanding - Occasional Up to 3 HoursWalking - Occasional Up to 3 HoursSitting - Frequent 3 to 6 HoursMental DemandsSustained attention and concentration - Frequent 3 to 6 HoursComplex problem solving/reasoning - Continuous 6 to 8+ HoursWork EnvironmentMay work outside of core business hours and days as necessary to perform essential functions.
