Full-TimePosition Overview:
Louise Durham Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary Guidance Counselor who will also take on key coordinator roles within the school. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing counseling support to elementary students, coordinating standardized testing, managing 504 plans, and fostering strong family and community engagement. This role is essential in creating a supportive and effective learning environment for our students.Key Responsibilities:Guidance Counseling:Provide individual and group counseling to students to support their social, emotional, and academic development.Implement and manage a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the needs of all students.Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to identify and address student needs.Conduct assessments and provide recommendations for interventions and support.Offer crisis intervention and support as needed.Coordinate and oversee the administration of standardized tests.Ensure compliance with testing procedures and guidelines.Train and support staff in test administration and preparation.Manage test materials and maintain accurate records.Analyze and report on test results to inform instructional practices and school improvement efforts.Serve as the primary contact for Section 504 plans, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.Facilitate the development, implementation, and review of 504 plans for eligible students.Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to support students with disabilities.Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of 504 accommodations and make necessary adjustments.Provide training and resources to staff on 504 regulations and best practices.Family and Community Engagement:Develop and implement strategies to strengthen partnerships with families and community organizations.Organize and facilitate workshops, meetings, and events to support family involvement and student success.Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, school programs, and community resources.Coordinate with local agencies and organizations to enhance support services for students and families.Advocate for the needs of students and their families within the school and community.Qualifications:Master’s degree in School Counseling, Guidance Counseling, or a related field.Arkansas Certification as a School Counselor.Experience working in an elementary school setting preferred.Knowledge of state and federal regulations related to testing and 504 plans.Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, staff, and community members.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities effectively.Physical Requirements:Ability to sit for extended periods and use a computer.Occasionally lift and carry materials up to 25 pounds.According to the salary scheduleMena School District
