Addresses a broad array of legal matters to support the Company’s Commercial, Corporate Affairs, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, and/or general administrative departments. Works closely with other members of the Legal and Compliance teams as well as internal business clients to address legal issues across several disciplines. Advises, conducts training, and offers legal support to business clients. Drafts and negotiates life sciences arrangements and contracts.Your Contributions (include, But Are Not Limited To)Works at the direction of the legal business partners and provides clear and business-savvy legal advice and risk guidance to commercial business partners and key stakeholders related to one or more of the following:Commercial activities including review of promotional materials and resources, marketing concepts, salesforce initiatives and training and industry educational eventsLegal projects and activities related to commercial products and compliance with specific legislation (Anti-Kickback Statute, False Claims Act, and the Food Drug and Cosmetic Act)Supporting the company’s Commercial, Regulatory, Patient Advocacy, Corporate Communications, Medical Affairs and general administrative departments through late phase drug development, pre-commercialization, regulatory approval, and commercializationRoutine counseling on corporate issues, including interactions with business clients on cross-functional projectsVariety of activities such as licensing, collaborations, agency and third-party vendor contracting, and other matters, including contract negotiations and post-execution implementation of routine business arrangementsDrafts, negotiates, and advises clients on a broad range of legal and contractual matters to support the Company’s business, including but not limited to vendor services agreements, consulting agreements, license agreements, etc.Interacts closely with business clients and third-party contracting parties to understand business requirements and ensure that contractual terms are consistent with the Company’s priorities and policiesMay draft and manage legal template documents and proceduresActs as advisor on legal issues involving the organization’s government and regulatory complianceReviews contracts and other legal issues, and advises organization on appropriate legal actionMay counsel clients on trademarks, trade secrets, advertising law, privacyOther duties as assignedRequirementsJuris Doctorate (JD) degree and 5+ years practice as an attorney in a well-regarded law firm and experience with a life sciences company, and/or a reputable, highly rated law firm with a focus on representing life science companies, or a combination of bothAn active license to practice law in any stateAbility to independently identify, analyze and render legal advice on complex issuesAbility to draft and negotiate agreementsAbility to deliver clear, concise and accurate advice, including the appropriate level of detail and anticipation of follow-up questionsAbility to build consensus with diverse stakeholders and third parties and form strong, collaborative working relationships with clientsDemonstrates proficiency and/or expertise in several of the following areas: general corporate matters, including corporate organization and governance, healthcare and regulatory compliance, drafting transactional documents and agreements, employment law, data privacy, risk management, contract managementExpertise with respect to corporate compliance and transactional experience is required, including strong contract drafting skillsAnticipates business and industry issues; recommends relevant process / technical / service improvementsDemonstrates broad expertise or unique knowledgeApplies in-depth expertise in discipline and broad knowledge of other closely related areas to improve efficiency of teamAbility to work as part of and lead multiple teamsGood leadership, mentoring skills and abilities typically leads lower levels and/or indirect teamsExcellent computer skillsExcellent communications, problem-solving, analytical thinking skillsSees broader picture and longer-term impact on division/companyAbility to meet multiple deadlines across a variety of projects/programs, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiencyExcellent project management, strong project leadership skillsApplies ingenuity and creativity to problem analysis and resolution in complicated and/or novel situationsInfluences internal/external business and/or industry issues that have an impact on NeurocrineAbility to understand strategic direction and incorporate it into tactical plansAbility to develop into an expert in a strategic job functionAbility to develop a broad and comprehensive expertise in leading-edge theories and techniques within a strategic job functionResearch, Decision-making and planning, and organizational skillsTeam player focused on team and organizational successIntegrity, honesty, and trustworthiness are core operating principlesNeurocrine Biosciences is an EEO/AA/Disability/Vets employer.We are committed to building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace, and we recognize there are a variety of ways to meet our requirements. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
