Job Description Summary:

PayPal is seeking a talented and experienced Marketing and Advertising Executive Legal Counsel to join our legal team to drive growth in our expanding advertising business. You will provide legal advice and guidance to our PayPal Ads organization on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters related to digital advertising, identifying legal and regulatory risks, advising on product design and strategy, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

Provide legal advice and guidance to our PayPal Ads business on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters related to the development and launch of advertising and promotional initiatives.

Provide timely and business-focused legal advice on design and strategy and proactively identify associated risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data privacy and protection laws (including state and federal consumer protection and privacy laws, GDPR, and other global privacy laws).

Develop regulatory strategy with global privacy regulators in connection with new product features and initiatives.

Assist in developing appropriate terms, conditions, and disclosures for advertising offerings.

Collaborate with other legal and compliance teams, and other cross-functional groups to support advertising initiatives globally.

Monitor regulatory developments impacting your portfolio of products and advise business and legal partners on their impact.

Provide training to business leaders on legal and regulatory matters related to PayPal Ads.

Qualifications and Experience

Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and admission to at least one state bar in current good standing.

A minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience in-house or at a major law firm (with at least 3+ years at a mid-to-large size technology company).

Experience advising on privacy legal risks and mitigations.

Must have experience advising on legal and regulatory matters related to digital advertising and ad-tech.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and under pressure with diligence, organization, and minimal supervision, and provide practical, business-friendly advice to clients.

Strong analytical, strategic and project management skills; ability to drive issues to a quick resolution that factors in many non-legal variables.

Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal and regulatory concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

Comfortable with gray areas and interpreting and applying the law in unsettled contexts.

Must have excellent issue identification and problem-solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team, to effectively coach and mentor others.
