General Re Life currently offers anexcellent opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst towork remotely but based out of our Stamford, CT offices.

Role Description

The Gen Re Life Health Technical Accounting team is seeking aSenior Financial Analyst responsible for planning, coordinating, andparticipating in the execution of the monthly and quarterly financial closeprocess. Outsideof the financial close, the candidate will represent Technical Accounting oncross-functional teams working on technology improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare the month and quarter end financial close calendar, working closely with Finance, Valuation, and Technical Accounting management.
  • Coordinate the execution of the financial close within Technical Accounting to ensure all dependencies and deadlines are met.
  • Perform all assigned financial close sub-ledger tasks, including opening and closing periods, preparing data imports, running feed files, etc.
  • Prepare timely and accurate Life and Health financial reports for Technical Accounting, Finance, and Audit including accrual reviews, accounts receivable aging, reinsurance recoverable aging, etc.
  • Demonstrate technical and analytical skills to assess issues, understand the impacts, and find solutions.
  • Review and analyze closing reports to detect anomalies.Propose additional reports as needed.
  • Work with a cross-functional team on technical projects to gather business requirements, build data conversion rules, and develop and execute test cases.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration across internal Gen Re teams.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of internal process documentation.
  • Identify areas of opportunity for process improvement and contribute to system enhancements.

Role Qualifications and Experience
  • 5+ years of experience with Life and Health reinsurance accounting and financial closes.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business-related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and multi-task.
  • High degree of analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional time management and prioritization skills.
  • Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to exercise professional judgment and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Prior experience working with IT resources to track, test, and resolve issues.
  • Prior experience working in a team environment on system migration projects including requirement gathering, data migration, and testing.
  • Familiarity with reinsurance technical accounting including interpreting agreements, developing statements of accounts, and calculating accruals is a plus.
  • Aptitude for learning accounting, data analysis, and systems/applications.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables, formula building) required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, PowerBI, SharePoint, Azure DevOps User Stories, and SQL queries a plus.
  • Experience with SAP FS-RI, FS-CD, BP, and FI-GL a plus.
  • Minimal travel maybe required.

Salary Range
78,000.00 - 130,000.00 USD
The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the US and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
