We offer a wide variety of competitive benefits, services and programs that provide our employees with the resources to pursue their goals, both at work and in their personal lives.Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will conduct research within a talented group of scientists focused on targeted protein degradation (Protein Homeostasis Structural Biology) but will work across functions and therapeutic areas to enable structural studies of key membrane proteins. There is opportunity to have a real-time, high-value impact on the ongoing projects as well as chart the future of our research efforts by capitalizing on structural insights, for example, by uncovering mechanisms of action, defining binding modes, and identifying target degrons. This scientist will interface with chemistry, biology, proteomics, and CADD scientists working across BMS. We are seeking a passionate scientist who strives to bring impactful membrane protein structural biology insights to bear on a burgeoning portfolio of targets, across therapeutic areas, with the goal of bringing novel therapies to patients.Job ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute laboratory experiments with the goal of generating suitable membrane proteins for successful structure determination by cryo-electron microscopy and/or X-ray crystallography.Collect data and determine structures of key membrane protein structures relevant to drug discovery.Interact with drug discovery project teams, and participate in departmental meetings, to communicate structural results and assist in rational drug design.Participate in departmental initiatives on cross-functional initiatives/work streams/taskforces.Work with managers and peers to develop innovative structural biology methodologies and approaches to enable drug discovery.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of academic or industry experience.Or Master’s degree with 6+ years of academic or industry experience.Or PhD with 4+ years of academic or industry experience and 2 years of leadership experience.Preferred QualificationsA PhD and postdoctoral research with relevant training, and demonstrated expertise in Cryo-EM, with X-ray crystallography experience a plus.4+ years of experience in an academic and/or industrial setting employing innovative strategies to structurally characterize membrane proteins, protein-protein complexes, and ligand binding of these proteins.In-depth knowledge of current practices, instrumentation, and issues for answering key structural biology questions.Extensive, hands-on experience with membrane protein expression, purification, and structure determination by Cryo-EM.Preference will be given to candidates with experience in expression, purification, and structure determination of GPCRs relevant to drug discovery.Strong written and oral communication skills to deliver scientific results and presentations clearly.Demonstrated ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary team and inspire mutually beneficial collaborations to drive the drug discovery process.The starting compensation for this job is a range from $121,000 - $167,200 plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed.
