POSITION SUMMARY:The Psychiatry Consult Liaison Manager is part of a psychiatric consult team responsible for organizing and ensuring psychiatric care, including coping skills training, therapeutic interventions, and treatment planning, provided to patients who have psychiatric needs. They are responsible for developing strategies related to supporting the patients, including best practices for care. This may include education and/or connecting with community partners to support education to the inpatient teams. This position will be accountable for providing direct treatment and assessment services to patients admitted to inpatient medical floors and skilled nursing. As part of care and treatment of patients, this position will collaborate directly with inpatient medical staff (including hospitalists, nursing, leadership, clinical assistants, rehab, and nutrition), psychiatry patient flow navigator, case management, and social work teams. The Psychiatry Consult Liaison Manager will have anticipated administrative and supervisory responsibilities based on department and organizational needs.This individual must be able to work in a variety of health care settings, including gatherings with family members, participate in interdisciplinary team rounds, and community agencies. The role requires the ability to set priorities in demanding situations and manage multiple assignments that are broad in scope and cover many systems successfully while also practicing interdisciplinary teamwork and communication to achieve key results. This individual must have knowledge of healthcare, professional standards, and evidence-based practice to ensure consistent quality and performance, including accuracy, confidentiality, impartiality, respect, and advocacy.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Master's degree in Psychology, social work, or counseling required.License in the field of Psychology, social work, or counseling within 6 months of date of hire.Additional degree in Healthcare related field preferred.Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) certification within 6 months of hire required.Must become crisis/de-escalation trained within two months of employment.Strong communication, interpersonal, and navigation skills to build supporting partnerships within the organization and with community agencies.Familiarity with New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (OASAS) regulations, Office of Mental Health (OHM), Department of Health (DOH), and Joint Commission requirements required.Interprofessional collaboration and coordination across care settings to support optimal patient and family-centered psychiatric care required.Knowledge of the developmental needs of patients of all ages, and skills required to assess and deliver care and services to patients of all ages required.1-2 years of experience as a clinician in care for psychiatric population preferred.1-2 years of experience in outpatient or inpatient mental health evaluation and treatment, including an understanding of the crisis evaluation process required.Experience in coordinating behavioral health intervention plans and services with other agencies required.Clinical knowledge and experience in mental health, including trauma-informed care, DBT, suicide prevention, substance use management, and crisis intervention required.Experience in substance abuse-related counseling preferred.Familiarity with information systems and electronic health records required.
