Job Summary

Under the direction of the Administrator, the HIM Director administers and maintains medical record system for nursing centers in accordance with State and Federal Regulations as well as professional standards of practice and Company and facility policies and procedures.

Residents Rights

Knows and respects patient rights.

Ensure protected health information is kept confidential.

Reports complaints made by patients or staff to supervisor.

Reports all allegations of patient neglect, abuse and/or misappropriation of patient property.

Safety and Sanitation

Follows established safety procedures.

Observes the safety needs of patients as indicated in care plan.

Wears and/or uses safety equipment and supplies when indicated and trained to use.

Demonstrated job-specific knowledge of fire and disaster preparedness during drills or actual situations.

Staff Development

Attends and participates in scheduled in-service training, educational classes and meetings and company policy.

Participates in QAA program.

Attends and participates in required program by the company.

HIM Director Responsibilities

Processes any ROI related to continuation of care, insurance, and correspondence requests in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as professional standards of practice and Aliya Healthcare Corporate and nursing center policies and procedures. Track and manage all ROI process in required timeframe including submitting request to legal department, following up with Allegro as needed and cc’ing Administrator, DON, Regional Nurses and HIM Consultant on all email exchanges.

Utilizes available educational materials and conducts instructional programs for facility staff regarding Health Information Management and total quality of management.

Scan all documents under the correct category in PCC Misc Tab.

Manages the Credentialing process.

Updates the Emergency binders on each unit monthly according to regulation.

Audit charts per Aliya policy, in a timely manner including on Immunization documentation, code status orders, progress notes, UDAs- (work with facility clinical team to ensure compliance).

Manage all orders, ensuring that all orders are signed by the appropriate physicians and monthly order reviews are processed. (Knowledge of PCC Practitioner Engagement App, if necessary, train providers)

Scan all CERTs into PCC in a timely manner.

Perform weekly check on backup EMAR system.

Process all ADR requests or any audits related to payment determination and should be communicated directly to facility administrator, MDS Consultant, and VP of Clinical Reimbursement.

Attend weekly Team meetings for additional training and review of areas focus with the HIMC.

Tracks H&P, Physician/NP visits, informs DON and HIM (Health Information Management) Consultant, if not in compliance with the policy.

Attends and participates in staff meetings, department head meetings, and other center meetings.

Performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required by the Administrator and the HIM Consultant.

Education

Bachelor's degree in health information administration, RHIA, RHIT certification or work experience equivalent. Must have legible penmanship, knowledge of medical symbols, abbreviations, and terminology.

Experience

1-2 years previous working experience.

Principal Contacts

Works closely with all department heads, nursing staff and Physicians/NP.

Travel

As needed within the Region.
