This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Shaner Hotel Group. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. If you accept a position at this hotel, you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International, Inc.Responsibilities:Strategically solicit and develop new accounts while promoting the property.Generate top-line revenue and manage all aspects of the Sales Department.Work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as required.Focus on achieving hotel financial goals and budget targets.Ensure compliance with and completion of all daily operational procedures by the Sales department.Maintain knowledge of and comply with all Shaner Hotels, franchise, and hotel/departmental policies.Understand current customers and accounts, including corporations, agencies, associations, and other groups.Determine and implement additional business or market segments to pursue.Establish special packages or programs to boost occupancy during slow periods.Create advertising in support of these programs.Attend trade shows and local events in support of hotel sales.Ensure communication with the General Manager and other Department Managers.Manage employee performance to ensure productivity and a quality work environment.Maintain the Sales Department’s annual budget.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:Minimum 5 years progressive experience in sales, preferably in the hospitality industry; Marriott experience preferred, but not required.Ability to communicate satisfactorily with guests, management, and co-workers.High school graduate or equivalent; college degree in hospitality management or business preferred.Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.Familiarity with the local economy and market conditions.Working knowledge of hotel operations.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.Ability to prepare budgets and ensure cost controls.Familiarity with Sales and Marketing tools.Knowledge of organizing set up requirements from information on B.E.O.'s.Knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele.This company is an equal opportunity employer.
