Unit ICU (MICU/SICU/Neuro) (cost code 20)# beds "20-BedsAverage daily census currently around 16-17/day.

Pre-COVID 14/day. They have 6 rooms that can designated for COVID if needed. "Certs BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS are Required; TNCC is PreferredRatios 1:1-2

for ICU, 1:3 for Stepdown. This unit supports Stepdown needs for the facility. Tele does not titrate any drips. They have a PCU; however it is not a traditional Stepdown unit.EMR EPICCharge Nurse/House Supervisor They have a designated Charge Nurse 24/7. In their staffing model the Charge Nurse is supposed to be

a free charge nurse; however, they will take 1 patient if necessary. The Charge Nurse responds to all Rapid Responses & codes.Nurse Aides They get some Capstone students - to help support the on-going education of the

student in the specific areas. They also get some nursing students for observation, as well as nurse externs but would be assigned to specific staff members & not counted into the staffing numbers.Weekend Requirement Every-other-weekend. Nights is Fri/Sat; Days Sat/SunHolidays They try not to schedule travelers on the holidays if they don't have to (if this changes they will let us know)Scrub Color Navy blue - navy or white jacket - undershirt white or navy - hair must be natural hair color - No pink or blue. Distasteful tattoos must be covered.Tele/Monitor Techs Phillips Cardiac Monitors - No monitor techs - Currently have a central monitor station & hardwired in the rooms. The data from the monitors, vents, etc. flows directly into EPICDrips

Braun IV pumps: all typical drips including moderate conscious sedationVents Servo & Hamilton - managed per RT100%. RN may silence alarm once RT is notified, but otherwise the RN's do nothing w/ ventsHospitalist or Intensivist in house Pulmonary Critical Care Intensivist is in-house during the day & hospitalist at nightIV Team No IV teamRT 24/7 RT is in-house 24/7Pharmacy 24/7 Pharmacy in-house 24/7 & on the unit during the day - OmnicellShifts 12's

7-730. They

use Kronos to enter schedule requests, then the clinical coordinator enters the schedules & the manager approves them. They try to do this at least 2 weeks in advance, for 4 weeks at a time. They

will allow block scheduling if in the contract. Night shifts is usually a blocked schedule. Weeks go Sunday - Saturday.Floating Typically

travelers do not float outside of the ICU; however the perm staff does get floated. Unless, however the traveler is working a float pool assignmentFloor specific orientation 1st day is general hospital orientation. If they finish early they will come to the unit. 1-2 shifts of orientation with a preceptorCommon diagnosis / Types of patients They get everything from post cath lab to balloon pumps. No Open Hearts. They get ventrics but no bolts. They have a thoracic surgeon 2x/month, every-other-Thursday. No CRRT. Common ground MICU/SICU w/ some cardiac - CCU acuity - they don't get a lot balloon pumps so usually give those to perm staff; however, if a traveler has this experience they will consider giving them balloon pumps.
