About The Role

The Microsoft Datacenter Comms team is hiring an Account Executive (AE) that will support reactive and proactive stories, and company news related to the datacenters business. This role is on a highly visible team and provides ample opportunities to obtain in-depth experience working directly with the media.

Specifically, the Account Executive (AE) will work directly with clients and the agency team to support stories and news announcements related to datacenter expansion, technology innovations, and sustainability across earned outlets and owned channels; and be responsible for developing and strengthening relationships with local, trade, and tech media. Other responsibilities include supporting day-to-day rhythm of business activities, coverage reporting, and distinct workstreams across larger projects. The ideal candidate will have an agile mindset; demonstrate excellent writing and verbal communication skills; have existing experience working with media and/or other types of influencers; and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

Manage inbound requests from local, trade (such as sustainability outlets), and tech media, providing strategic recommendations to clients on engagement, and managing responses with influencers.Support agency leadership on reactive inquiries from business media and interviews with senior spokespeople.Own distinct workstreams within proactive story motions, including conducting market or media research, and developing internal and external-facing communications materials. Pitch proactive stories and news to journalists.Develop knowledge in the datacenter business such as key technology innovations, local community issues, and key statistics; apply to reactive and proactive communications workstreams.Maintain and grow client relationships by contributing to the development and implementation of communication strategies, executing on projects (leading where appropriate).Monitor, report, and provide insight around published stories and broader company news cycles. Support any weekly, monthly, or quarterly reports.Adhere to agency and client media management processes: media lists, pitching protocols, coverage monitoring.Support client expectations and satisfaction; assure internal and external stakeholders are aligned.Support broader Azure and Cloud Communications stories, news, and events outside of datacenter topics on occasion.

Qualifications

2-3 years of experience in PR or marketing, preferably in an agency setting and/or within the high-tech industry.Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (particularly Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel).Previous experience working with media and/or other influencer types (e.g. analysts, creators).Experience developing written communications materials, including integrated communication plans, press releases, pitches, and social media content.High level of initiative; ability to be resourceful and independently problem-solve.Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to be an engaged, accessible member of a dynamic team and organization.Previous client service experience, whether in an agency or other business environment.Experience working globally or with colleagues in multiple locations.Interest in developing integrated communications skills incorporating digital and social media.Experience in a fast-paced team environment (frequent tight deadlines, multitasking, etc.).Experience in public speaking, in small or large group settings.May need to work more than 40 hours per week on occasion.

Compensation

The base annual salary range for this role, applicable across all U.S. locations, is outlined below. The actual salary may vary based on several factors such as business requirements, job responsibilities, skills, experience, and geographical location.

Salary Range

$60,000—$68,000 USD
