Are you passionate about pushing the limits of technology to advance our understanding of the life sciences? So are we! We’re looking for a talented and driven Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the advancement of optical pooled screening technologies. You will leverage your deep experience developing mechanical components, assemblies and instruments for the life sciences industry within timelines and budget constraints. The ideal candidate will have strong engineering and problem-solving skills, an excellent grasp of mechanical and optical design fundamentals and a good understanding of the life sciences industry. As Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for design, developing, specifying and testing the company’s hardware products. Additionally, you will play a key role in product, hardware and optical architecture, the definition of product requirements (PRDs), and developing test-bench setups, fixtures and procedures.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, specify and test hardware components, assemblies and products. Manage and oversee the execution of hardware projects, working with vendors to ensure adherence to performance, scope, budget, and timelines. Communicate hardware project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner. Proactively address issues and challenges that may arise during project execution. Develop and document parts, assemblies and products including CAD models, details drawings, work instructions and testing protocols. Develop reliable and cost-effective products using DFM, SPC and related disciplines. Work closely and collaboratively with contract manufacturers and vendors to develop and manufacture Bifrost products. Stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and trends in the field. Work independently and as part of a team. Qualifications
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. At least 7+ years of professional experience as Mechanical Engineer developing products for life sciences industry. Broad knowledge of hardware, mechanics, physics, optics, and manufacturing processes. Able to use Solidworks for CAD modeling and detail drawing. Should be proficient in use of GD&T and tolerancing principles. Strong analytic, debugging and problem-solving skills. Self-starter and able to work independently. Some coding experience (Python, C/C++/C#) is a plus. Some optical design experience (microscopy) is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
