Position Summary

Role and Responsibilities
The Big Data Team looks to hire hands-on leaders at all levels. You will dive deep into the details of the business, operations, and engineering. We need technical, hands-on leaders who can build and grow organizations. You’ll need to excel at hiring and developing a team of strong engineers. Our services operate at large scale and on critical workloads, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence are key. You’ll also need to be willing to share big ideas and execute to deliver the next big innovations at a rapid pace.
You will be able to demonstrate strong technical expertise and people management skills including strong communication and analytical skills with a thorough understanding of product development and successful problem definition, decomposition, estimation, and resolution. You will collaborate with other senior engineering and operational leaders to ensure standards are defined and rapidly adopted including but not limited to:
Specific responsibilities include:
As Head of Data, accountable for managing the eCommerce data end to end which includes data engineering, BI Engineering, DBA, ETL Platform & Applications.
Accountable for the digital platform and analytics success, from strategic design all the way to framework development and daily operations.
Work with eCommerce leadership & business teams to align data roadmap with the business roadmap.
Work with other infrastructure teams to ensure platform stability and meet Samsung security requirements.
Accountable for meeting operational excellence goals and platform stability to align with the roadmap.
Build strong partnerships with business teams with aligned requirements, roadmap, launch plan, and ensure ultimate digital launch success.
Provide product and technical direction within the organization.
Hands-on experience defining digital capability and providing business insightful analytics at scale.
Accountable for the analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics.
Define and champion data engineering & BI engineering best practices.
Coach, supervise, and mentor staff of professional analysts, engineers, and managers.
Work with external vendors in procuring software licenses and contracts and align with the budget.
Work with stakeholders including the Executives, Product, and business teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
Technical liaison with technology vendors and integration partners.
Customer-focused and process-driven.
“Can do” attitude, and ability to think out of the box and rapidly prototype and deliver innovative solutions.
Successfully communicate product roadmap, business plan, impact/result cross-organization including with senior leadership.
Background & Competencies Required:
18+ years of experience in delivering highly available and highly scalable digital capabilities and business analytics success.
7+ years of demonstrated success in the digital or analytics space at leadership level.
7+ years of experience in leading product or analytics strategy, roadmap, prioritization in sales, marketing, eCommerce, digital spaces.
Demonstrated success in building partnerships both internally and externally.
Demonstrated success in communication cross-organization and executive forums.
Industry expertise in database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Experience in building high availability large scale data pipelines in AWS platform.
Expertise in managing reporting functions including producing KPIs and Dashboards, publishing through multiple channels.
7+ years of experience in leading teams, hiring top-notch candidates, growing talents, and managing team performance.
B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent.
Salary Range
The salary range for this role, for candidates based in California, is expected to be between $275,500 and $325,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
