Position Purpose

The Regional Vice President’s (RVP) primary role is to grow sales, profit, market share, and drive operational excellence. The RVP will provide innovative and strategic leadership, hire and develop high performing teams, and personally role model Sleep Number values leading with unquestioned integrity. The RVP will be responsible for communicating and cascading key company objectives, strategy, mission and vision.

Primary Responsibilities

Drive both top line (revenue) growth and bottom line (profit) for their stores, the region, and the company, and achieve key performance indicators (KPIs).

Drive a culture that is “customer first,” with key decisions made with our customer in mind.

Leverage sales driving opportunities and profit optimization through execution of the company sales process, skill development, retention, customer experience/NPS and marketing/promotions optimization.

Effectively coordinate with and utilize internal partnerships to optimize sales and execution excellence.

Offer strategic performance insights for business planning, goal setting, budget development, strategic decision-making and market-by-market planning.

Challenge and inspire team to exceed sales goals; remove barriers to enable focus on high impact work.

Advocate and model talent development; build a talent pipeline through strategic hiring, succession planning and employee development.

Understand retail real estate – strong knowledge of markets, key trade areas, with experience and ability to take a leadership role in partnership with the real estate team to drive DMA profitability through quantity and quality of store locations.

Key Performance Indicators

Sales Results : % to plan, comp sales, conversion, leads, mattress pad attach rate, home delivery attach rate, average revenue unit (ARU) and NPS.

Talent Leadership : Staffing, retention, engagement, internal promotion rate, high-potential readiness.

Operational Excellence : Audit scores, hidden-helper scores, training path execution, store profitability, inventory variance.

Position Requirements

10-15+ years of previous multi-unit leadership in a specialty and or commission retail business required, ideally having demonstrated strong performance in a variety of roles within a successful retailer.

Bachelor’s degree required.

Strong business acumen; able to effectively understand and utilize financial statements (i.e. P&L, budget, sales reports, other insight tools).

Able to achieve results in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment; remain calm and focused under pressure.

Able to build consensus and influence, without authority, across levels within organization.

Demonstrated ability to drive talent attraction, employee engagement and retention.

Excellent executive presence and communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).

Ability to build strong partnerships and track record with all constituencies, both internal and external.

Demonstrated conflict management and problem solving ability.

Demonstrated courage and integrity; ability to build trust and rapport with all levels of the organization.

Required to live in region (CA, AZ, UT, WA, OR, ID, or NV) and travel 65-75% in region and quarterly to regional or corporate events.

California regional leadership a plus.

Salary Pay Range : $220,000.00 - $300,000.00
