Join our Women's Private Label Apparel team at Li & Fung as a Freelance Sleepwear Designer. We're looking for a talented and experienced freelance designer to lead our creative vision, guiding the seasonal design development process from concept to delivery. If you have a strong background in apparel design and are passionate about creating original, trend-driven sleepwear collections, we invite you to bring your expertise to our team.

Roles & Responsibilities

Strategy & InnovationResearch and identify sleepwear trend directions; create concept/mood boards, analyze collections, shop stores, perform competitive analysis, and prepare fabrics/design concepts for presentations.Develop original and brand-appropriate sleepwear designs that reflect key trends and customer needs.Execute the seasonal design development of sleepwear categories, ensuring designs are in line with cost structures and broader assortment strategies.Create concepts for special projects that expand sleepwear offerings for new customers or market segments.Operations & Results

Collaborate with technical teams to ensure proper fit and functionality of sleepwear designs.Work with CAD Designers to develop original prints, textiles, and embroidery designs suitable for sleepwear.Design according to line plans, sales needs, and emerging trends, ensuring timely execution within the product development calendar.Create detailed Illustrator sketches, review line sheets, and develop tech packs for sleepwear styles.Utilize 3D software (e.g., Browzwear, CLO3D) to build 3D bodies and bring sleepwear designs to life.Source, select, and review raw materials and trims, ensuring they meet price points and quality standards.Collaborate with costing engineers to design sleepwear items that fit within required price ranges.Approve the aesthetic and quality of print strike-offs, fabrics, and trims used in sleepwear designs.Customers & Relationships

Coordinate follow-up with internal and external customers and partners, including technical design, production, and vendors.Build strong relationships with vendors and internal teams to ensure smooth communication and project execution.Leadership & Teams

Contribute positively to the team dynamic and provide mentorship or guidance to junior designers as needed.Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design or related field.5+ years of experience in apparel design, with a focus on sleepwear preferred.Superior organizational skills and excellent communication skills; team-oriented and collaborative.Strong ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.Creativity and a strong sensibility for sleepwear design and merchandising.Proficient understanding of garment construction, fit, and pattern making.Extensive knowledge of sewing techniques, fabrication, silhouettes, and trim selection; familiarity with print design and manufacturing processes.Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe products (Illustrator, Photoshop).Experience with 3D software such as Browzwear or CLO3D, with the ability to make pattern corrections and build bodies.Compensation/Benefits:

The approximate hourly rate range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00. The offered rate for this position will vary based on role requirements, skill set and years of experience.Important Notice: Fraudulent Communications:
