We are looking for a Controller to join our dynamic Operations Team.

The Controller manages our firm's accounting and works closely with our COO/CINO and Partners. They are responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting, payroll, cash management, monthly and annual financial reports, and tax filings for GGFL and related companies as well as the management of the Finance Team.

If you have a solid knowledge of current accounting practices related to partnerships and small business corporations. You are always looking for ways to improve processes and drive efficiency leveraging available technology, while maintaining solid and reliable financial data.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Management and Leadership
  • Manage, engage and support the Finance team
  • Guide the team through challenges by making informed decisions and providing direction when needed
  • Ensure the work in the Finance Team is fairly distributed and organized with sufficient coverage
  • Encourage staff to take ownership of their tasks while providing support, guidance and training as necessary
  • Work with the Partners and other members of the Operations Team to achieve objectives


Financial Reporting and Operations
  • Oversee the preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Manage the development of annual budgets and prepare forecasts.
  • Oversee the billing function and support effective management of accounts receivable.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial data for internal stakeholders
  • Lead and manage all aspects of accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax filings
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions
  • Provide regular variance analysis between actual results and budgeted expectations
  • Maintain and enhance the organization's accounting systems and internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards
  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls to mitigate financial risks
  • Support the COO/CINO with financial analysis, business planning, and strategic analysis

The ideal candidate would have:

  • 5+ years of accounting and financial reporting experience
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or similar program (an asset)
  • Accounting designation an asset
  • Bilingualism an asset
