Job Summary

RINA, formerly known as Patrick Engineering, is seeking a Staff Engineer to be responsible for assisting with the preparation of design calculations, drafting and design of electrical engineering projects. The Staff Engineer provides support in writing of technical specifications and reports and conducting other necessary inspections and studies under the supervision of a licensed engineer.

The individual works with other engineers on a project team, maintaining effective communication with project team members, other departments, suppliers, and clients. The Engineer at this level is in a developmental mode, being trained under close supervision in the utilization of engineering theories/practices and gaining exposure to Company procedures.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparing fundamental engineering computations, surveys, and designs under the supervision of a licensed engineer.
  • Provide support in the preparation of material quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bidding documents.
  • Complete drawings/project responsibilities within scope, budget and schedule; review drawings for completeness, accuracy, and constructability.
  • Utilize computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
  • Assist in the preparation and issuance of technical specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.
  • Perform field work by obtaining field information, checking installations, problem solving, maintenance and/or repair of equipment and systems.
  • Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly.
  • Perform other duties associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Professional Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited institution or equivalent fields of study.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 2 years of hire date.
  • Relevant internship experience or entry-level design experience in electrical engineering.
  • Knowledge of discipline related Code and common construction practices
  • Strong technical written and verbal communications skills
  • Familiarity with computer-aided design software and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering required (i.e. AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Additional Preferences
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • 20% travel (i.e., job sites) may be required based upon business need.
