Job Description

As a graphic designer for the University's Marketing and Communications department, the successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment to create a variety of high impact and high visibility digital and print materials. Work alongside both our Creative and Social teams to build visually appealing content that engages our audiences. Essential Duties:Design a variety of marketing materials including digital graphics, print collateral, advertisements, and promotional items.Ensure all designs align with the University of Oklahoma's brand guidelines and uphold the university's visual identity.Develop and create motion graphics for video content to enhance storytelling and engagement.Collaborate with different departments and colleges to understand their needs and deliver tailored design solutions.Assist the social media team by managing smaller accounts and creating content that engages and grows our online community.Stay updated with industry trends and incorporate best practices in design and marketing strategies.Performs desktop publishing and graphic design of visual communications.Incorporates exemplary design principles (composition, balance, hierarchy, harmony, and contrast).Aligns graphic approach and content with industry best practices and unit guidelines.Employs effective composition and color theory that consider focal point, eye path, and value.Ensures projects are completed in a timely manner and on budget.Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.Additional Required Attachments :

Portfolio and/or examples of design work including print and digital media.Job Requirements

Required Education:

Bachelor's degree,

AND:

12 months of graphic design experience.Equivalency Substitution:

Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 60 months of related experience.

Skills:

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects).Strong understanding of branding principles and the ability to work within established brand guidelines.Experience in motion graphics and editing is highly desirable.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.Experience with social media platforms and content creation is a plus.Detail oriented for accuracy of data and informationHighly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlinesAble to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiativesKnowledge of graphic design principlesCertifications :

Ability to engage in repetitive motions. Sit for prolonged periods.Standard office environment.Department Preferences :

Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field.Minimum of 2-3 years of professional graphic design experience.Photography and/or illustration skills.Familiarity with project management systems (ex. Asana) and social media management tools (ex. Sprout Social).
