Western National is seeking a Solution Architect to join our team!

The data-focused Solution Architect supports the IT and Business Intelligence teams by developing, continually improving, and communicating the architectural vision in designing integrated data solutions. The successful candidate will collaborate with business stakeholders (especially the Business Intelligence Team), IT teams (especially Data Engineering Team and Integration Engineering Team), and third-party partners to identify the needed future state and the necessary components / actions required to achieve that future state. Solution Architect will act as the liaison between enterprise strategy and IT development and will work with other architects within the Enterprise Architecture Team.

What are the responsibilities and opportunities of this role?

Understands and contributes to the assigned domain architecture roadmap, working closely with other members of the architecture team.Participates in planning, definition, and high-level design of the assigned domain and exploration of alternatives.Works with key stakeholders (e.g., development teams, infrastructure teams) to ensure solution and integration standards are followed that result in quality deliverables.Creates, maintains, and continually improves important documentation, including solution documentation, design patterns, key decisions.Establishes critical NFRs at the domain level and ensures compliance by implementation teams in the following disciplines: security, quality, infrastructure, user experience, scalability, and performance.Researches and understands new technologies to continue to move the organization forward.Participates in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and demo events for the assigned domain.Collaborates with other members of the Enterprise Architecture Team on innovative ideas across the enterprise as it pertains to the assigned domain.Designs and implements solutions to support business intelligence initiatives.Designs and implements solutions to support data science initiatives.Develops and maintains data flow and process diagrams.Provides expert advice to project teams on use of integration and data technologies.Participates in selection of data and integration technologies.Requirements

What are the must-have qualifications for a candidate?

Good analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion.Strong attention to detail and quality.Demonstrated ability to consistently communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical audiences throughout the organization.Advanced knowledge and use of various office and computer equipment and software packages.Advanced knowledge in Visio, Draw.io, or similar graphical modeling tools.Strong experience in DevOps and Cloud platforms.Strong experience with microservice and MVC architectures.Familiarity with Infrastructure and IT Security.Familiarity with AWS, k8s, Docker, Java, and JavaScript.Four-year degree in computer science or other related field of study, equivalent experience in lieu of degree acceptable.What will our ideal candidate have?

Master's degree in a related field is desirable. MBA in addition to a four-year technical degree is also desirable.Solution definition and problem-solving skills.Analysis and design skills across large projects or programs.Practical experience in project management helping to drive complex designs.Ability to facilitate group sessions with the ability to highlight and apply architectural methodologies.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent modeling and graphical representations in human consumable formats.Can drive change within the scope of their responsibility.Ability to solve ambiguous problems across multiple technology domains with minimal guidance.Familiarity with the insurance industry and insurance technology solutions, such as GuideWire or Duck Creek.Compensation overview

The targeted hiring range for this role is $126,090 - $154,110, annually. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and/or may be considered for other positions.

Salary Description

$126,090 - $154,110
