POSITION SUMMARY:
The Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department is filling positions immediately with the season ending in March. Seasonal laborers will perform varied manual labor work in the Marathon County ice arenas and City of Wausau parks. Employees usually work 20 hours per week. Most positions will be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Evening and weekend availability preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:Must be 18 years of age or older.Possession of a driver's license and a driving record that meets County standards.Experience performing facility cleaning and grounds maintenance work desirable.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Ability to perform varied maintenance tasks.Ability to keep daily work logs, vehicle maintenance requests, etc.EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:Seasonal laborers may be assigned to various facilities based on the needs of the department.
May perform a variety of manual work including cleaning facilities and grounds.Assist the public in a friendly and professional manner.Open and close facilities according to established policies.May work independently or under the guidance of full-time employees in cleaning, repair, and maintenance work.May set up facilities for special events or rental groups.May operate power equipment of various sizes in City and County parks and facilities.May use cleaning agents and other chemicals in performing tasks.Performs other related work as required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Skill in the safe use of motorized equipment.Ability to enforce rules firmly and fairly to ensure the safety of all customers.Skill in operating vehicles and equipment effectively, safely, and efficiently.Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance activities.Ability to effectively communicate with park users.Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.Ability to follow safety rules.Ability to contribute to a positive work culture that fosters excellent customer service and teamwork.COMPENSATION:
1st year employees: $14.00 per hour2nd year employees: $14.50 per hour3rd year employees: $15.00 per hour
