We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Psychological Counselor.EWU is committed to supporting and promoting a diverse workforce and encourages applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply for this position.Psychological Counselors provide mental health counseling to students who are experiencing difficulties that interfere with their ability to succeed academically. Counselors provide consultative services to individuals and groups associated with Eastern Washington University around issues pertaining to the psychological well-being of members of the university community. Psychological Counselors are also responsible for facilitating crisis intervention and risk assessment services to students and the greater university community. A psychological counselor assumes responsibility for the development and coordination of services and initiatives in an area of student concern/need in consultation with the Director and Clinical Supervisor. A Psychological Counselor is expected to prepare and deliver educational materials and/or preventive services that address the developmental, interpersonal, and other psychological issues of particular relevance for a university population. Counselors are expected to fulfill and maintain professional licensure in the State of Washington.Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work from a regionally accredited institution in higher education.Counseling theory and treatment models, diagnostic criteria, psychotropic medication knowledge, and knowledge related to the cultural implications of service delivery.Advanced clinical counseling skills, case conceptualization and case presentation skills, risk assessment skills, clinical writing skills.Associate license at hire date or unrestricted license in Washington State (expected within 3 years of hire date).A minimum of one-year supervised practicum/internship experience.Experience providing individual and group counseling and outreach services.Demonstrated interest, ability, and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.Application Types Accepted

60Direct ServiceProvide culturally informed individual and group counseling for students who are experiencing psychological, social, academic or other difficulties that interfere with their ability to succeed academically.Provide risk assessment services, including suicidal and homicidal risk, for the purpose of retention, individual and campus safety, and to minimize university liability.Provide assessment and interventions, when appropriate and consistent with clinician training/expertise, for a wide range of psychological disorders and developmental concerns.% of Time:

20Coordination of assigned area, training, committee inputAssume responsibility for the development and coordination of services and initiatives in an area of student concern/development in consultation with the Director and Clinical Supervisor.Provide Counseling and Wellness Services input and leadership on campus committees focused specifically or generally upon the staff member’s area of expertise and area of coordination.Participate in the practicum/internship training of graduate students at CWS. Provide supervision to unlicensed staff if needed and in accordance with providing clinician’s training in supervision and credentials.Other duties/projects as assigned.% of Time:

10Consultation and OutreachProvide consultative services to individuals and groups associated with Eastern Washington University, through scheduled and extemporaneous means, around issues pertaining to the psychological well-being of members of the university community.Provide educational materials and/or presentations for students, staff, faculty, and families.Participate in outreach events, such as tabling or new student orientations.% of Time:

10Division/departmental functions; Licensing and Continuing EducationParticipate constructively in organizational matters, such as departmental staff meetings, Student Affairs division functions, and periodic retreats.Fulfill all requirements to obtain and retain professional licensure for the State of Washington in compliance with state law and practice in accordance with APA, ACA and NASW professional guidelines.
