Job Summary:

Responsible for the strategic oversight of the Credit Union's Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM). This role will serve as the program lead for critical third-party risk management program functions and will work in a cross-functional manner across the Credit Union, working closely with other second line oversight functions and business partners. Responsibilities will include developing and implementing strategic policies, and procedures to assess, onboard, monitor, and optimize third-party relationships as well as ensure responsible sourcing compliance and adherence to Credit Union key strategic initiatives. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to drive these improvements, lead the change management, streamline processes, ensure compliance to enhance financial & business performance.

Essential Functions:
  • Design and support the TPRM program, integrating it into the company's overall risk framework.
  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of third-party relationships, from initial vendor selection and due diligence to ongoing performance monitoring and evaluation.
  • Manage vendor relationships, and work with the legal team to ensure contract alignment with Credit Union risk policies.
  • Establish strong partnerships with vendors, managing contracts, and service level agreements to ensure the organization's needs are met effectively.
  • Collaborate with second line of defense oversight stakeholders (compliance, information security, data management and operational risk management) to ensure effective risk management and mitigation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure key issues or findings are addressed timely.
  • Develop and deliver TPRM training programs.
  • Lead and communicate incident response and post-incident reviews to key stakeholders.
  • Mature and digitalize performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure performance against contractual obligations, service level agreements, risk resiliency, and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct vendor performance reviews, finding areas for improvement, and implement any corrective actions necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, computer science, information management, or a related field.
  • 8+ years in risk management
  • Bondable

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CTPRP, CRISC)
  • 5 + years third party vendor management experience, with 3+ years in a leadership role, preferably in financial services.

  • Strong knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in third-party management, risk resiliency, governance processes, regulatory requirements, and responsible sourcing.
  • Experience managing third-party and/or vendor risk across the entire life cycle.
  • Proven record of effectively assessing and managing competing priorities, including taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.
  • Experience working with Federal, State, and Local regulators on third party risk management program reviews and audit.
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to build and execute strategic plans and articulate vision to key stakeholders across the credit union.
  • Excellent program management skills and ability to hold others accountable for deliverables to ensure program plan timelines are successfully met.
  • Ability to adapt approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations while driving organizational transformation.
  • Ability to see past the question, understand the wider strategy, and think tactically to get to the best result for all parties.
