Project Manager

Job Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, management and completion of multiple projects, initiatives, and products while also adhering to regulations, standards, budgets, and possessing a dedication to customer excellence and stakeholder management. Additionally, owns coordination of personnel and resources required to successfully complete projects. Identifies functional milestones for specific objectives and coordinates documentation of policies and procedures supporting the company strategy. Close coordination with other groups such as Customer Service, Marketing, Product Development, Product Owners and Technology is required. The Project Manager must be motivated and willing to learn the business quickly, be a proactive problem solver, and actively engage in thoughtful discussion at various levels with the ability to pivot gracefully and often. The Project Manager must possess strong time management skills, ability to prioritize work, and a passion for driving results and adding value. Must be comfortable managing complexity and ambiguity.

Department Overview

The Portfolio Management Office (PMO) includes Business Insights, Project Management, Product Ownership, Scrum Masters and UX. Together, we provide radical visibility, intentional structure, and just the right amount of process to facilitate the movement of enterprise work through the product development pipeline. We enable sales by bringing product ideas to life. We provide service by building tools to support our customers. We support systems with process, planning, and stakeholder communication, translating business needs into requirements, and orchestrating work that flows into our technology team.

Job Details

Leadership
  • Provide oversight and direction with comprehensive ownership of budget management, resource allocation, and other administrative functions as they relate to project success.

Development
  • Develop project scope of work and project plans that include analysis of benefit, cost, work schedule and any related risks along with associated mitigation strategies. With assistance from leadership, identify project management team roles, project reporting structures and team responsibilities while adhering to Project Management Best Practices.

Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with Executive team, department heads, and functional management teams in identifying and planning corporate projects, implementations, prioritization, scope, and timelines.

Communication
  • Proactively set and manage expectations with internal and external stakeholders including the active monitoring and communications of project performance against defined milestones, and proactive risk identification and resolution.

Documentation
  • Actively participate in the development, implementation, and execution of internal processes and procedures to enhance and improve project implementations, compliance requirements, and process improvements.

Other
  • Report to and perform other work or projects as directed by Director, Product & Project Management


Job Requirements

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Communications or a related field
  • 5+ years' experience in Business Analysis and/or Project Management Processes and Competencies or any combination of education, professional training, or experience that demonstrates ability to successfully fulfill the job expectations
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office and Project Management related tools such as Jira, Monday.com, Excel, SharePoint, Visio, Power Point, etc.
  • Expert knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management and project management techniques and tools
  • Practical experience moving a project from ideation to reality
  • Detail oriented, creative problem solving, quick thinking, challenge motivated
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Experience in resource management in Agile environment
  • Working knowledge and experience with Agile philosophy
  • Skills in strategic thinking, research, process improvements, business process mapping, analysis, resolving problems, diplomacy, and report development
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain positive and professional relationships at all levels with internal and external stakeholders

Desired
  • Experience with Insurance company operations, organization, procedures, and policies
  • Knowledge of insurance products including health, life, and annuity lines of business
  • Project Management certification(s)
  • Agile or SCRUM certification(s)
