Summary:
Huntington's Director, Portfolio Management will manage a book of business in the bank's Financial Institutions Group (FIG) vertical within Huntington's Corporate Specialty and Government Banking group. The Director, Portfolio Management services and, in conjunction with Relationship Management, deepens an assigned portfolio of clients by proactively identifying and evaluating opportunities and mitigating associated business risks, in accordance with Huntington policies, procedures, and guiding principles.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Underwrite and close broadly syndicated, complex commercial loans
  • Provide credit recommendations to the appropriate level of credit administration
  • Review loan documentation in consultation with legal counsel
  • Manage risk on an ongoing basis by monitoring customer credit worthiness, adherence to loan terms and general business conditions
  • Manage annual reviews and renewals, portfolio reviews, collateral exceptions, borrowing bases, delinquencies and other reporting
  • As appropriate, assist in optimizing customer relationships working with Relationship Managers, Treasury Management, Capital Markets and other team members


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 7+ years of related portfolio management experience


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10 years of diversified banking experience including portfolio management experience and positions of increasing responsibility, with 5 years of expertise in the Financial Institutions space
  • Industry knowledge and established networks within the FIG sector highly preferred
  • Completion of formalized credit training program
  • Demonstrated success structuring complex credits; researching, judging and presenting information verbally and in writing; creating documentation to support the credit and minimize risk
  • Proven ability to manage workflow and deadlines, while effectively balancing competing priorities
  • Demonstrated leadership experience by providing coaching, skill development and feedback to team members
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Word and Excel and other software applications that are supportive of the loan underwriting process
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of professionalism
