Michael Baker's 20+ person Inland Empire Transportation Team is spread across the region with experienced Project Managers, Discipline Leads and Designers in roadway, structures, traffic planning & design, and the various facets of public works. This team works on large scale transportation projects, multidiscipline planning projects as well as local public works projects throughout the IE and Coachella Valley areas.
DESCRIPTION
Working closely with our Inland Empire Transportation Team and our West Region Transportation Leads, as well as our West Region transportation professionals, this individual will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and designers in all aspects of design and plan preparation for roadway, highway, and freeway improvement projects for City, County and State agencies in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, both on and off the State Highway System.

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $140,000-$204,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate. This role is also eligible for a discretionary bonus based upon corporate and individual performance

Working closely with our Inland Empire Transportation Team and our West Region Transportation Leads, as well as our West Region transportation professionals, this individual will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and designers in all aspects of design and plan preparation for roadway, highway, and freeway improvement projects for City, County and State agencies in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, both on and off the State Highway System.
The Senior Transportation Project Manager will:
- Participate in ongoing strategic positioning for major highway or roadway project opportunities
- Manage client relationships and guide the application of Michael Baker International services within the Transportation practice area to best serve the interests of the client and Michael Baker International
- Assist in identifying and winning new work through industry and client engagement, focusing on local clients including SBCTA, RCTC, CVAG, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, and local municipalities
- Manage and deliver projects per agreed to plan, budget, and quality objectives, including focus on scope changes and tracking additional services
- Lead, assign, and review work of the project delivery team
- Check work and progress, ensuring that the Michael Baker International Quality Standards are followed and documented
- Mentor and develop staff
- Lead proposal development, interview preparation, fee development, and negotiations
- Provide technical direction, support and strategic planning while being a visible and active member of the Transportation community
- Develop and maintain trusted adviser relationships with key transportation clients.
- Responsible for successful contracting and project execution, working closely with regional Michael Baker International staff and office leadership.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or an applicable accredited engineering degree)
- 10-15 years of Transportation/Public Works experience with increasing levels of responsibility and may also have design-build experience
- California Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Knowledge of regulatory issues and key players in the Inland Empire and Coachella Valley transportation market.
- Knowledge of Caltrans District 8 innerworkings
- Track record of delivery of PID, PA/ED and PS&E phases of the Caltrans oversight program
- Strong track record of overseeing successful project delivery of a diversity of Transportation/Public Works projects for City, County and State agencies
- Project delivery experience on the State Highway System and will be familiar with Caltrans standards and project development procedures.
- Possess strong relationships with City, County and State agencies, including established Caltrans and Riverside and San Bernardino County relationships
- Demonstrated supervisor and mentoring skills
- Proficient in writing and presentation skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit to grow our Transportation practice in the IE and Coachella Valley market
- Strong engineering judgment with strong background in Transportation/Public Works
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, public speaking ability, and problem-solving skills
- Have the capability to work in a dynamic environment and conduct multi-tasking efforts
- Have the drive to be a leader in the company and in the professional community
- Have the flexibility to work from home or office as required by the project or client
