Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of water / wastewater treatment plants in addition to drinking water, sanitary sewer, and other public infrastructure projects in the Water Resources field
- Review and analyze drainage systems for storm water or floodplains to ensure safety of the ecosystem and public; designs necessary conveyance systems to safeguard the area.
- Assess the need for drinking water and/or wastewater treatment systems based on current and projected future population and/or development demands; conducts feasibility studies for the construction of public utility infrastructure to meet identified needs
- Analyze, or assist with analysis of, various water and/or wastewater treatment technologies, and recommend the most effective method
- Design and develop specifications for various pumping and force main systems
- Collaborate with contractors and government agencies regarding construction of treatment systems and other public utility projects
- Ensure design and equipment specifications comply with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines and codes
- Conduct feasibility and related studies regarding the collection, treatment, or distribution of water or wastewater, and prepare written technical reports
- Provide clients with technical support and subject matter expertise on water resources related issues
- Conduct appropriate cost-benefit analyses for assigned projects
- Align with marketing team on RFQs, presentations, and scoping projects
- Train and mentor junior engineers
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- BS or MS in Civil Engineering or closely related field
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer
- Must have experience designing water and/or wastewater treatment plants, in part or in whole
- 10+ years of experience in public infrastructure projects related to Water Resources field
- Completing projects in multiple states is required
- Project and / or Client Management experience is required
- Ability to guide junior staff as well as participate in the design and detailing of all aspects of small- to large-scale multi-discipline water/wastewater projects of varying technical complexity
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and time management skills
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client needs and deadlines
- Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
