The position at a glance

Change & Solutions is an integrated and agile structure to facilitate the delivery of change solutions across the BNPP platform, with deep interconnectivity across businesses and functions to support the execution of priority initiative combining, from strategic consulting to execution.

The Analytics Lab falls under the Change & Solutions and is responsible for the industrialization of data driven and AI opportunities for the Americas region with people in Montreal and in New-York. The Analytics Lab supports the platform to innovate and implement ideas that positively influence how we operate and challenge the status quo of the organization. It is a center of expertise in CIB Americas to maximize the bank understanding of customers, enhance products, services and operations with a data driven approach.

As BNP Paribas is a global organization, the Lab is also part of Analytics Consulting, A global team that build AI solutions for CIB. Beyond the presence in Americas, it has AI and development experts in Paris, Lisbon, London, and Warsaw.

Responsibilities:

The senior developer will be part of the core data-science team analyzing business issues / opportunities and solve them through a deep data analytical approach. This role aims at providing scalable frameworks for greedy data pipeline. It also brings performance and resiliency focus to the work developed by the data science team.:
• Develop and maintain reliable and evolving AI applications with state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms.
• Diagnose and resolve performances related issues with in-house application software.
• Coach, train and mentor data scientists on latency issues, best practices, and methods to improve the lab final products and the overall client experience.
• Ensure deliverables adhere to the Continuous Improvement/Continuous Delivery framework as well as automated testing.
• Facilitate internal validations (IT, Risk, Compliance), deployment and application support.
• Provide knowledge on technology and business trends advising on potential benefits and impacts.
• Participate in joint projects with our colleagues from Analytics Consulting in EMEA.

The strengths and skills that will help you succeed

Minimum required qualifications:
  • Master's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Optimization, Software Engineering
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience including development and L3 support of production environment.
  • Expertise in major programming languages (Python, Java, GoLang) and database (PostGreSQL / SQL).
  • Experience with source control (Git) and release management (JIRA, Jenkins, Artifactory).
  • Experience with containerization (Docker & Kubernetes) and micro-service architecture.
  • Experience with development of RESTful applications (API) and OpenAPI specifications.
  • Positive, energetic, flexible, and self-motivated team player with strong organizational skills
  • Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Bilingualism in French and English is required.
  • Very strong work ethic and ability to deal with confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience implementing and supporting Machine learning applications.
  • Experience with middleware (Kafka), cloud storage (S3).
  • Experience with performance measurements and troubleshooting.
  • Previous mentorship experience
  • Agile to quickly adapt to new situations and conduct projects in a fluid work environment
